i have a kooikerhondje and i know that the now extinct english version did exsist 'englick red decoy dog' i have a book with what i think is the breed a red collie type dog.
if i was to breed the dog and recreate it how would i get it recognised by the kennel club?

You can't, it's as simple as that. The KC will only recognise breeds that are recognised abroad. Full details here:

It would take a very long time even if the KC allowed it.

The Cesky Terrier was developed over 60 years ago(in Europe) & has only recently gained KC recognization ! So it would need probably as long if not longer & would be very expensive both in time & money, as many many litters would have to be bred before you would get anything like a consistant type

Is the picture of an English Red Decoy Dog or is it of a Toller, which is believed to have similar ancestry to the Kooikerhondje.

Some history say tollers also desended from the english red decoy dog :)

But unfortantly you cannot bring back anything that is exstinct.  Now if there were afew in the world you could be onto something but there isn't.

The Parson Russell was recreated more recently than that, wasn't it?

The Parson Russell Terriers(as distinct from the short legged JRT-not KC recognized)was around even after the demise of the 1st club & was not really recreated as such(like the Cesky was created from the Scottish Terrier & the Sealyham) It had been recognized before, whereas the "English"Toller has never been KC recognized & would therefore in the eyes of the KC would be a new breed.

And with recognition in 1990. Thank you - I knew it was quite recent. :-)
