I have a seven month old puppy girl who has a single retained puppy tooth. It is not loose or wobbly at the moment and doesn't look like it is going to drop out on it's own in the near future. I have quite a bit of experience with pups but have never seen this before. Has anyone got any advice on how long I should wait for it to go before I ask the vet to remove it ? She is a slow maturing giant breed and I am not keen to have her under anaesthetic unnecessarily. Thxs

I bet it's a canine tooth, isn't it? And probably an upper one. Retained deciduous canines is a surprisingly common condition. I'd have it removed asap, before it starts to affect the placement of her other teeth.

Yep, spot on. Upper Canine !
I have bred and owned numerous pups over the years but have never seen this before. Her bite is perfect at the moment so wouldn't want to risk damaging that by leaving it in too long but wondered whether it might drop out on it's own. I think I will book her in to have it removed now.

This was discussed last week.  Have a look here. :)
