Anyone have any experience of these please? Zuma has one just about over his 'pin-bone' top of his hip/spine area. it started about size if a very small pea but has got bit bigger and vet recommends removing soon than later as it will keep growing and small means littler hole/slice.
added problem is he will have to have external stitches as he had alergic reaction to internal with op in December.

Hi
Is Zuma a GSD?  only my girl suffers with these cysts and always has from being a few months old, she is six now.
They never seem to bother her and my vet always says unless they look nasty to leave well alone what I do is bathe them with warm salty water and it seems to make them burst faster and then I just keep cleaning them with the salt water  I,m making it sound like she,s a right ugly toad aren,t I? (she,s gorgeous really like all shepherds)
They really do not seem to bother her at all so unless they become troublesome I,m leaving well alone.
The other thing I did was to buy a bioflow magnetic collar for her as they were recommended to me and she has had far fewer since Christmas when she started wearing the collar.
Hope this helps

Sharon I think your confusing with Sebaceous cysts, which my breed can be prone to too.

Dermoid cysts http://www.healthsystem.virginia.edu/uvahealth/peds_ent/dermcyst.cfm are quite different.

Thanks for that, I found a bit in Blacks Vet Dictionary when vet came up with the name of it, I was hoping someone may have had a dog that had had one removed as I was wondering how deep the removal goes, how big the slice etc is. Thinking ahead I already have a no-bite collar ready to save the stitches :-)
