Hello! I'm doing some mock up save the date wedding cards at the minute, my colour scheme is teal & silver.  I'm thinking of making a postcard style notifiction with some teal patterned backing paper & a smaller card on top with the details in teal coloured font decorated with some silver save the date stickers I've found - does that make sense?!?  However I'm rubbish with computers & have just been attempting some mock wording but can't seem to find the right colour - can anyone help? is there a program that offers more colour options that microsoft word is giving me?!  I'm wanting to use the same font colour for my invitations, menus etc etc so don't mind having to pay a bit of money for something if it's good! :)

I also need a good online card/paper supplier - need some teal backing paper! Thanks in advance!

Hi gembo, If youre wanting some more colours using Microsoft Word, click the drop down box where you change your font colour (A button on your toolbar) then click more colours. A box should appear saying standard colours. There should be  another tab next to it saying custom, click on that tab. Then if you just move your mouse over the cross on the spectrum of colours and click you can move the cross around till you find a shade you like. You can also alter the shade of colour chosen by moving the arrow on the right of the colour spectrum up and down.
There is a box which says new and current so you can see what colour youre making as you go.
Once you are satisfied with your colour choice click ok and the box should dissappear. If you now look at your toolbar at the top of the document at the A button, you should see the little line underneath the A has changed to your chosen colour just double click on the A button and away you go......

Hope this helps

Thanx purplehaze, I found the custom button last night but can't find the exact shade I'm after or maybe I'm being a bit of a bridezilla! Thanx :)

gembo,

most home printers are not set up to print 'metallic' colours, although some of the fancier ones can use Metal FX inks - the closest you may get in CMYK terms is 0%, 0%, 0%, 25% (basically a light black/grey) or if you are using Pantone colours it would be 877.

For Teal the CMYK is 100%, 0%, 0%, 50%. Pantone is 322.

If you click on the 'custom' colours in Word then adjust the 3 RGB boxes to 0%, 80%, 80% - this will give you Teal.

Hope this helps

Gembo,

A wee idea for you, which may make the process a bit simpler and the finished result looks very crisp and professional -

Get some HEAVY (250gram+) A4 teal card, maybe a 'laid' stock which has a nice 'ripple' texture to it & cut into A6 (basically a quarter of A4).

Get some crisp, white card, the heaviest your printer can handle (maybe 160/200gram).
Set up your print area as around 128mm x 85mm. this gives you a 10mm show of teal card all round)
Lay out your wording and any design (a simply 'flourish' on each corner looks nice).
Set this up 4 on a page with no visible border but if you can, a tiny 'cut' mark just outside the printed area as a guide.
Print out however many you need, with a few extras.
Cut to size.

Get some foam double sided tape (its about 3mm thick). Apply a couple of squares to the back of your white card, centre onto your teal card and press firmly.

Your white card should now be 'floating' on the teal card.

Finish this with the best quality white A6 envelope you can afford.

Best wishes
