Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has used this before and what your experiences of it are.
What did you use it for if you'd like to say, or not, and whether it worked for the reason you used it for.
Any side effects or unwanted behaviour linked to it?
I know that it is not medication and that every dog is different but just wondered if its worth it.
I have tried to find some online which are cheap(by jove it very expensive stuff).
Cheapest i have found for the 450mg x 100 tablets is £66.70 from Pilgrims Petcare.
Anyone know of where i can find this cheaper, i have a dog over 40kg so would have to have the higher dosage.
Thanks

I had it presecribed by my vet to calm my 5 year old burmese. She was very resisitant to our new kitten. Difficult to say If it helped but we finished two packets and things had calmed down during that time. btw new kitty had been with us about 5months when this was prescribed. No side effects noticed and I would use it again if needed. Its alwayds difficult with this type of thing to know which was the cure time or the med. I have seen it on petmeds much cheaper than my vet charged.
I have afriend who used it to help her 6month old boxer who was on "bed rest " due to a broken leg. She reported excellent result and no side effects

My vet has had great success using Zylkene for anxious type behaviours. He uses it alongside the DAP products and behaviour modification plans. He swears by it. Hope this helps.
That is a very good price - my dog is on the higher dosage too, and I've usually ended up paying over £80 for 100 x 450mg capsules.
The vet behaviourist suggested I continue giving this to my dog who has severe anxiety and exhibits fear aggression to strange dogs (I had already had him on it for about 2 months already). To be honest I personally hadn't noticed any real improvement during this time, but she suggested that along with other supplements and dietary changes to boost his serotonin levels (and the behavioural modification programme she has suggested) the effect would be like putting thin layers over his behaviours - no one thing would resolve his problems, but there would be a cumulative effect facilitating an improvement.
I do know of other people who feel it has made a difference to their animal's stress levels.
I have not noticed any side effects or unwanted behaviours as a result of using it, and understand that it is a very safe supplement.
I hope it works for you.
