Hi all
I have been doing some research on the raw diet and read Wiltshireones post with interest.
Teri made some very interesting points which I will follow up on. Thanks Teri :-)
I would be interested to know if there were any Sheltie breeders on here who feed raw and what "menu" they use and any particular do's and dont's especially for a pup. Obviously it is a critical time for growth etc and I certainly would not wish to cause problems by not getting it right. I have asked Reggies breeder she has not tried it. She certainly did not rubbish the idea but said she has only stuck to dry complete so her mind is at rest that her dogs/pups are getting all that they need from the food, she said she would be worried as her knowledge was so little she would be missing vital things out which they would need. She also did not know of any other Shelti breeders who feed raw. Although Reggie is still on a good quality dry food (or so i am advised!!) His motions are a little on the softer side so would like to see if they firmed up and maybe help with the scooting/gland problem.
I quite liked the idea of complete for one meal and raw for another
Thanks in advance

Hi i have a sheltie boy, He was fed a well known dry food before i had him but as i feed my other dogs (dobes) a raw diet i wanted to change wizz over . The best thing i can tell you is to buy a couple of books one is called give your a dog a bone and the other is called raise your pups with bones, i bought mine online.
Wizz is fantastic on raw and he loves it he eats everything the others have just have to mix his veg in very well otherwise he would eat round it. Have a word with your local bucther he should be able to help you with the bones, If you buy freeflow mince pets at home sell it you can take out what you need and keep the rest frozen, Chicken wings you can buy in the supermarket. Hope this helps
