I need some weed advice , i live in a very secluded spot  next to woodland and a river , my garden is getting over run with nettles and something called japanese hyacinth , i pull them out and within days they are back, can anyone recommed a really good weed killer for these little blighters

Thanks

Think someone mentione boiled water on here not long ago?  Saves putting weedkiller down that can hurt the dogs etc.

Those Japanese hyacinths could spring up anywhere they liked at mine - far prettier than the mare's tail that even springs through concrete and tarmac at ours ... !

Sorry, no help, but will be watching for tips.

Read somewhere that the conservationists are pleading with people to leave the stinging nettles in their gardens for Butterflies! We are always strimming ours, stingers and children don't mix! Sorry no advice really. :(
Good luck! :)

I picked and cooked nettles once only.
Nothing special, just a recipe that I tried.
I think it may have been called cumberland herb pudding...

Same sort of problem in our garden with the nettles, I was strimming them like a demon and they'd be back, Jaws music in background

Then I saw loads of capertillars on them, that's what my youngest called them and saw a program about leaving them for Butterflies, so I do and they eat a lot of it and when the Bufferlies (young son again) have gone I go strimmer mad again, oh and get OH to pee on them :-D

the only effective way to get rid of nettles is to dig them out - you need to get the whole root or they just keep coming back :(

My mum always leaves a small clump in her garden for the flutter-byes, where I used to live there were hedgerows all around so to my mind the nettles could stay out of the garden lol

good luck!
