Topic Dog Boards / Health / constipation after heart treatment pills 'vetmedin'
- By bobber [gb] Date 06.04.09 19:32 UTC
my lovely collie cross (sally) is nearly 16 years old and has had two heart attacks. the vet has put her on vetmedin and incurin (for her urinating while resting problem). she now seems to be struggling with her bowel movements. walking and squatting down for long times until she bucks up and gets back to the sally we know. any feedback here?

My Cavalier who died last year, was on Vetmedin for 4 years & never had any problems. The only sideaffects mentioned in the literature is possible vomiting.

My old girl has been on it for 2 years without any problems.
When a new symptom presents itself you are best to let the vet have a look as it may just be coincidental and something else is going on.

no need to panic (phew!) everything's back on track. the old girl is TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE! she's frollicking like a new born lamb.rolling in the grass and is up for it everytime you put your coat on! sixteen years old,she acts like she's ten. costs £60 a month but it's worth every penny!!!
