ok...not dog show nerves but Goat show nerves!!! I have got our 3rd goat show this coming Monday (1st of this season - the season starts in May and ends in August, very civilised!) but I am SO nervous. I already have everything packed and just need to bath the beasties on Sunday but I have a feeling they are going to show me up a treat!
Does anyone else on here show anything other than dogs???? (looks for moral support!!!)

I know nothing about goats or showing them, but wanted to say good luck.
Out of interest what venues do goat showing? Would be interesting to watch one.

No tips or experience either - just huge good luck xxx
Where are you showing your brood ?

I know someone who shows goats!! I get goats milk from her as well as my turkey every Christmas. :) I show rabbits, have done for almost 10 years now but I'm relatively new to showing dogs.
good luck sarah!!! cant imagine showing a goat, getting a setter to stand still is hard enough!!!! hope we are going to see some pics, see you at Brimingham National if you are going, Di x

Good luck :)
The Pygmy Goat club holds many shows at big agricultural shows. Its a great way to get into a show for minimal cost (entry fees are usually £2 per goat and you get a helpers pass too) I know Thame show charges about £10 entrance fee! There are shows at Stafford (venue for Birmingham, midland Counties etc) Builth Wells (in 2 weeks time)Ardingly there are a few. The one on Monday is in a field somewhere near Melton Mowbray!
Di, the goats are actually MUCH better behaved at shows than any Setter! We have a new one now, she is 14 weeks old and chocolate and white - very cute!!
Rach, thanks - are you going to Mid Western Gundog on Sat?

Just don't let them get your goat. :-)

hi sarah not at mid western as got 1st agility comp with max ! But at s of eng mon you there?
Good luck Rach with Max! Let us know how you get on.
Saw them judging rabbits at an agricultural show last year and it seems 4 judges were judging 1 rabbit. They were very through. I love the rex rabbits.
Hi Sarah, how did it go??? did the nerves get to you, how did the classification go was it "minor kid" class ha ha !!!! Are you at Birmingham on Friday
When it came to it I was pretty relaxed! Our blue (yes, blue!) female was 4th out of 12 in goatling (Junior equivilant) and Pippin was 3rd out of 4 in the castrated male class. He was a bit naughty and butted the goat next to him which cost him the class. They take temprement into account in this class too and the judge, who gives a verbal critique on each goat in each class (they place the whole class too!) said he neede to relax more but his conformation was better than the 1st and 2nd. Can you imagine doing that at a dog show?
I didn't show the baby girl as we got her after the entries had closed. She could have been in female kid though (8 weeks to 1 year)
Had an ok day but it was really cold and windy.
Hi Di - yes am going on Fri. Are you?

Verbal and written critiques are the norm in shows under FCI rules, wish they would do them in UK (in fact they are not allowed) even if it is only for the fist and second as they do for the written.
At leas the judge would have to say what they thought at the time without the revisions that knowing who the dogs and exhibitors are after.
Hi sarah, i know i maybe shouldnt but must admit to peeing myself laughing at the thought of your gost headbutting in the ring, I am soooooo going to come to a goat show to watch, sounds so much more fun!!! Is it facey ???? Yes going on Friday as nobody seems to have a clue what she going to do, so will see you there. Di x
