Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Day 54 - Temp low

Just wondering on some advise please.
My bitch is day 54 today and I've started taking her temp. She was not herself all day yesterday and was a little sick in the afternoon (it was bile that came up). She is eating ok, in fact anything she can get.
Her temp this morning was 37.4 which, if I'm correct, is a little low??

I've rang my vets who is busy with a patients so waiting on a call back.

Am I panicking before necessary?  She's to early for labour on day 54.

It generally sits a bit lower when they are in whelp anyway around the 37.6 ish...   it could be your thermometer or technique.  It isn't too low that it would be a concern.

Really drops are down into the 36..

It is quite normal people panicking at this state as they just start to get a bit uncomfortable. Nature knows when to send them. :-)

hope this helps but i can only say how my girl was , her temp was like this for 2weeks before she whelped, then her temp went right down to 36.4 the day before she had her pups ,also her temp was lower in the morning then later on in the day ,take it around 2pm and it might have gone back up :) ....good luck not long now ..she whelped on day 60 and pups were big and healthy :)

The vet rang me back and advised if its stay round about this figure it will be ok for now.
Just took it again and it was 37.7 and she seemed a little more relaxed.

Thanks for all the advise - panic over......Everyone as you were ;)
