soorry guys was't too sure where to put this but as I was trying to breed here goes.  My dog came into season flagging on day 11-12 but noticed that her swelling hadn't come to the back anyway took her to stud dog (experienced) but could not get a tie, ok with that not major, she is now 4 weeks later and the swelling has still not gone down and she is still giving off a scent that she is in season, my entire male is not interested but every other man and his dog are.  Any suggestions , help, why this has happened, could there be something wrong.  She is showing no signs of pregnancy at all but she has gone very quite and soft.

A continued swelling of the vulva, and interest from male dogs, are two signs of a bitch being in whelp. Unfortunately not definite signs, though. A phanthom can cause more or less any symthom a true pregnancy can.
Sounds promising though.

going quiet and soft and the vulva not returning back to normal size are both good signs of pregnancy, though there was no tie achieved i have had 2 litters from just a slip mating so you never know.

Did you achieve more than more slip mating?

Just keep a close eye on her for any other changes and to ensure she is well in her self.

took her to stud dog on days 12, 14 and 15 had slips each time

My bitches swelling never went completely after mating. We're on day 54 now :)
When we took her to the vets for scan and confirmation he advised that as the vulva was still quite swollen its a sign of the bitch being in whelp.

I visit to the vets is probably your best bet.

One of my girls remained swollen after the end of her season (mating with short tie) and I was confident she was in pup, she even gained weight but alas no other pregnancy signs and there were no pups.

I really do not think she is in pup but she is booked in vets tomorrow at 9.30 will let you know what the vet says

To me sounds like she's taken, fingers crossed at the vets, though may still be slightly early to tell.

this is where a matetel comes in handy as you can repeat the test , if it shows ferning within I think its 14 days to the day after mating  she is probably pregnant , worked each time with my litters.

My bitch had her first season, was not mated and 6 weeks later she is still slightly swollen with protruding teats too? Do you think that's how she'll stay now she's a 'woman'? :)

the vulva does stay slight bigger after a first season so yes you are correct in your thinking!

well I have 2 baffled vets, they said not a phantom as she would not being giving off the scent, not pregnant (got to go back in 2 weeks) not poly cystic overies as she would still be bleeding.  Totally baffled.

just to say that 'the scent' can be there when they are pregnant, one of my boys went mental for my girl until 3 weeks after she came back from stud dog, she went on to whelp 7 puppies so he had a scent which was of interest to him (he is also a proven stud) but she was clearly pregnant at the time.

I have one of my girls now that i hope is 4 weeks in whelp and some of the other dogs find her quite interesting too :)
