does anyone think a puppy of 17 days with eyes still tightly shut, should be a cause for concern, the rest of the litter opened there eyes at 14 days

Don't think so, not if they are clean and there is no discharge. Think if the are not open in the next 2 or 3 days I would be a bit conserned though. J :)

Joanne, feel the eyes gently through the lids and compare them to a puppy with open eyes. As long as they don't feel noticably bigger, smaller, harder or softer than the 'normal' pup, and as Jackie says, as long as there is no discharge there probably isn't anything to worry about.
