We had a vet called Mark Carpenter come to Jersey last w/end and he gave a talk on Homoeopathy.
I found this extremely intersting and have ordered one of the books he had with him.
I just wondered if anyone has tried homoeopathy with their dogs and if so, did it work??

Hi Yes I use homeopathy, quite a bit, and yeas they did work, symptoms tend to get a bit worse at first, but they soon settle down, I find that sometimes they work better than conventional treatments, put it this way, if there is something wrong with my dog, I will see if there is a homeopathic treatment first, DONT GET ME WRONG I always seek a vets opinion first, although some vets, do not advovate using homeopathy, but find yourself a homepathic vet

Hi , I use it all the time for minor problems; Heres a few: Arnica for shock, bruising , Hypericum for cuts. Use both togther after any surgery for much quicker healing. Ignatia for grief ie when re homing, loss of a friend. Pulsatilla for phantom pregnancy. The list is endless and I have ALWAYS had good results with it. Homeopathy can almost always be used alongside convetnional medicine, and will not affect the way the vets stuff works. There are a few remedies that shouldn't be given during pregnancy. www.ainsworths.com is a good site to visit. The doses are the same regardless of the animals size/weight. Tablets are best given crushed between two teasoons and placed on or under the tongue - they taste nice and the dogs dont mind having them at all - in fact when I get my homeopathic medicine box out of the cupboard to dose one with a remedy - they are all lining up in show pose for their "treat" and practically open their mouths for them!!! There are quite a few posters on here who use homeopathic remedies and are probably more experienced then me.

Yes, I use it a lot, alongside conventional medicine.
We were taught that the only thing you've got to watch out for regarding the use of two 'methods' together is that the homeopathy probably won't work if the animal is on steroids (cortisone esp), and to be careful giving it with strong tasting foods (won't do any harm, as far as I know, but probably won't work).
If you need to be convinced, try taking some Arnica 30 next time you're bruised or stiff from exercise - works a treat.

Derryn I will have a look in my leaflet that they gave out. One thing they did say though, and that was that they are not used in conjunction with convetional medicine....not sure if that applies to tyroid medication?? :D
Will get back asap.,
