Hi what do you give your new puppy owners when they collect their baby from you?. I send all my babies off with a large bag of puppy kibble, trays of forthglade puppy, tins of puppy food (enough to feed for at least a month),puppy treats, the correct brush and comb for the coat, toys, dishes,a bottle of stain and odour remover in case of accidents and a large piece of vet bed. Oh and a collar and lead blue for the boys and red for the girls

Just food and lots of printed information :-)  I rather feel my buyers will be like me and like to buy little bits and bobs for the puppy themselves.

Just all neccessary paperwork,
insurance,
one months worth of food
and a promise of a lifetime of support.

Since almost all puppies I have bred have been booked long before they were born, their doting owners will have had months to accumulate a pet shop full of accessories and often do.

I've even had one or two buy a new car before picking up baby -the old one being seen as not dog friendly enough.

Hi yes I give insurance as well, was 6 weeks till Petplan changed it to 4.
I also have most of my babies booked months ahead but I still like to give loads of stuff,my puppy owners all think it's lovely that I have taken the trouble to provide things like brushes and combs which you can spend a fortune on and still buy the wrong one. I have amassed loads of grooming stuff over the yrs that turned out to not do the job right. And I like to send my babies off knowing they have everything for their immediate needs.

Mine will be going in 4 weeks and they will all be getting a little folder with lots of typed up info on the breed and training, etc etc. bag of pro plan, diet sheets, pedigree, photos of mom and dad and the whole litter, a little smelly toy they have played with for a few days, a piece of vetbed, microchipped, and a catalogue from Croft which i include for those looking for crates and pens. A list of breed clubs and a great big kiss. Its sad but not too bad when you can hang on to one, hence the reason i only breed when i can keep one cos i doubt i could cope with seeing an emty puppy pen after all that hard work!!!

I helped a friend prepare puppy packs recently and together with the things already mentioned, we included details on basic puppy training, contact information for good puppy classes in their area (APDT) and information on the KC Good Citizen Scheme.

In addition to all the things you collect with your puppy, there are some items which are well worth having/knowing about before the puppy arrives.  I was desperate for things to read and useful things to prepare before I collected my boy.  As soon as he got here I was too busy and too tired to concentrate.  It's also quite good to plan some house rules in advance so that you don't get seduced by all that puppy gorgeousness!!

A recommended reading list to include - basic puppy/dog care, grooming, advice on showing, Kennel Club and other websites.  I always love other peoples bookshelves for reference books! :)

Your favourite online shopping sites - great for dog food, medical supplies, toys, crates, grooming equipment etc

Information on travelling with the new puppy.  I have to say I couldn't even imagine what size he'd be so help from the breeder about what size crate/box/fleece etc was very helpful...
