Hey Guys,
Have been doing a little research on importing pups from the States and wondered if anyone has experience of this?
As far as I can ascertain the pup has to be 8 weeks old and health checked but doesnt require anything else? Does this sound right?
Then there are the 2 options of flying out to travel back with the pup or allowing the pup to be sent cargo....again any experiences?
Thanks,
Kelly

I always thought they had to be 10 months before they could leave and have to be vaccinated for rabies also have to do 6 months quarantine in their own state to see if they show signs having it, also treated for worms and ticks and I hope somebody else can help with the rest that has to be done as it is ages since I looked into bringing one in from the states.
Hmm I'm confused....the way I read it was that if they were under a certain age then quarantine didn't come into play but i'm not sure if the PETS scheme over takes that
Gawd my head hurts reading all this stuff haha

You are planning on bringing in an 8 week old puppy from the USA ? I think this still applies"
The UK does not allow the entry of unvaccinated dogs and cats, and animals may not be vaccinated against rabies until they have reached the minimum age for vaccination (as stated on the vaccine manufacturer's datasheet).." Puppies cannot have the Rabies Vax until they are 3 months/12 weeks old so cannot be brought into the UK & into quarantine until they have been vax for rabies. Any dog brought in without a valid Pet Passport as still to do 6 months in quarantine. I don't think the age for Rabies Vax has changed for a long time

If the puppy doesn't have a valid Pet Passport it will have to go into Quarantine for 6 months. The no Quarantine for very young puppies does not apply to imports into the UK.
AH ok that makes more sense...I think I was getting confused between UK/US information
Thanks Moonmaiden

we have brought 5 over fromthe uSA in the last 4 years, if I can help in any way please get in touch
