My girl is a min pin, and unfortunatly while I was In the hospital she got pregnant. I am very concerned because she is only 11 mos. old and weighs only 8 lbs. fully pregnant. Also I have no clue of when she is due. I have talked to the vet and did about 40 hrs or more of research on line. But now I am more confused than EVER!!

you must have a rough idea of when she was in season? that usually lasts 3 weeks. take a date at the centre and add on 9 weeks. pups could come a week either side of this so you will just have to be ready and watch her. when she refuses food, starts digging, has diarrhoea and starts to pant then she is in labour.

First of all, welcome to CD!

Secondly - please remove the breed of your girl from the thread, as any mention of breed when talking about puppies is strictly against terms of service of Champdogs - it can be construed as advertising prospective puppies.

You say she got pregnant - what breed is the dog - do you know?   Is he larger than her?    You know the dates you were in hospital - how long ago was that?   If less than 6 weeks, your girl could be given the "anti-mate" drug which would mean that she would lose the puppies.

If she is more than that, my suggestion would be that she is spayed immediately - as you say she is very young, she is very small.   If the dog that mated with her is larger you could well lose her when she whelps her pups.

Go back to your vet - talk to him/her again and find out what the options are.

Its not a happy situation for you to be in, I do know.

I have allowed the breed to remain in this case as it may be very relevant to the reply. Especially if the member feels she has been mated by a larger breed. If she has been mated by the same breed, then the Mod can remove the breed.
