I have just been researching dog food to get the best for my new puppy, a beagle. I came accross this site www.uncaged.co.uk Am I really seeing what I am seeing here? I am horrified as I bought this product just recently. I never ever thought for one moment that a dog food company would be involved in such a thing.

Anyone know of a good dog food company who do not do this?

regards
Jackie

Hi Dallover
I agree with your sentiments entirely. This week I was contacted by the company in question to ask `that because I was a member of the breeders club previously (when they were owned by different people I think)did I want to join the new club?
Although I feed my adults on a natural diet when I have puppies I use a complete puppy food to wean them on.Low and behold when I put the phone down it was on T.V. about Procter & Gamble lobbying the goverment and moving outside the E.U.to enable them to carry on `animal testing`.Needless to say when the application form arrives it will be returned with a letter giving my reasons to decline membership.
to buy their products is to condone their ethics or should I say lack of them!

Hi Carole

Good for you. I have emailed P&G and told them exactly what I think of their TV advert that persuaded me to buy the product. It is misleading to say the least. I am so mad that I bought a packet of this stuff.

I have done some more research and found a few companies that do not use this practice and will buy products from them tomorrow and in the future.

I mean, there am I buying a beagle of all dogs and then feeding him on food that his 'brothers and sisters' died to provide for him, can you believe that!!!! I feel sick, I really do. I should have done the research before I picked him up but like a wally, I asked the vet and saw the TV adverts. How stupid can one person be.

Hi-Life does not use this barbaric practice nor do Pascoes, needless to say I am off shopping.

Nice to hear from you this evening.

Hi Jackie
Like you I feel sick to my stomach when I think about it ! I fed my dogs on it for years and even sold and recommened it when I had a pet shop(food & acessories only I don`t agree with animal sales) a few years back.I went to seminars they put on and now realise how totally I was taken in by them!
And all the time I was funding wholesale torture and murder.I used to know one of their reps and a wholesaler quite well who were taken to America to see where the food was produced and to the kennels they had where they `trialed`the food on a variety of breeds. They had nothing but praise for the whole operation so it seems they were taken in hook, line and sinker as well. They were both dog owners and I don`t think for a minute they knew what was really going on.Lets hope as the word spreads their sales plumet.

Hey Dallover, I've read the articles and i'm disgusted that anyone could ever purposely contaminate or injure 12 week old puppies for the "benefit of science."

If they were truly concerned with the welfare of our pets they wouldn't perform such cruel testing on our pet's potential offspring and then discard them after they are satisfied with their findings as if they are paper plates!!!!

The fact that they were poisoning husky puppies by injecting LIVE VIRUSES and ALLERGY CAUSING PROTEINS makes me sick to my stomach!!

Whoever is responsible for this atrocity should not be permitted to get away with this crime. They have no right to perform such tests on animals that did nothing to deserve it!! Furthermore, if the company's honest "mission is to enhance the health of dogs and cats," then they would not have done these experiments behind closed doors. At the very least, this company should be put out of business for their crimes. We as a society, should not support nor permit such implausible sins!

I can't wait to start telling everyone i know about the shameful transgressions carried out by this company so that they can switch food brands in an effort to help discourage purchasing and supporting of animal butchery!

Thank you very much for this eye opening information Dallover.

p.s.,we should find out who's responsible and volunteer their asses for testing and then argue that it's for the "benefit of science" and see how they react. Bet they don't appreciate being a scientific sacrifice against their own will!

Oh you are soooo right Carole

I have been telling tons of people and nearly all of them did not have this information. We live on a small island and by the time I have finished I think our local supermarket (we only have one major one) will wonder why the sales of these foods has dropped. I really hope so.

I will keep on letting people know.

thanks for your reply Carole

If you go back to the website there are lists of dog food manufacturers who are not involved in this awful practice.

I am about to e-mail the two companies whose food I use, to ask them how they test their ingredients and their products. Then I'll re-evaluate my feeding regime.

I'll let you all know how I get on. ;)
