i am planning on going to the skc in may (and indeed in august but my query will not apply then!) just as a spectator with my darling man and his mum- she is lovely and is showing an interest because i'm into it :) the thing is shes not great on her feet because of joint issues and is still recovering from a dislocated ankle.

my questions are 1) how spread out is it all? 2) how available is seating (though i think i'll just buy a folding chair and assign Himself to carry it) and 3) how many of you fine lot and your lovely dogs will be there?

It is fairly spread out and if you're not there early you could be well back in the car park and have even further to walk!

There's not a lot of seating so I would take a folding chair for you mum, in fact I might take one for myself! Folk tend to sit and watch their breed, then move on so you might be lucky and get seats but I would think you would be safer bringing your own.

I'll be there on the Friday with my pup. :-)

Question 2 I would bring a chair there are some but not a lot

Question 3 Depends on which day you are going

Hi its a fair distance from the carpark to the show, depending on here you get parked, do you have a disabled badgee on your vechicle?
Once in the rings are all to the right of the show, with the stalls on the left, the rings are close together, and there are wooden benches outside the tents,, and limited amounts of seats available, I would take your own though.
Were on the Sunday in May, working day, we will be there with our 2 GD's.
Its usually a good show, but last May it was freezing, and we were outside, August was inside last year caused by flooding.

Yes it is fairly spread out for the not so nimble. Went some years ago. The only way I could wangle the long trek up there & entering 2 big dogs was to suggest we took the in-laws for a break. They were both then about 80 & rather doddery. I think we managed to get in the disabled car park, so not too long a trek & we took folding chairs for them & left them comfy with food & drink. It wasn't too warm so remember to pack warm clothes. The advantage of taking the inlaws was that we didn't have to 'slum it'! We stayed a couple of nights in the Macdonald golf hotel in Peebles which was lovely, food & drink excellent. They let you take dogs into the room (for a price) & we were on the ground floor with patio doors opening on to a green. Perfect! The only downer of the trip (apart from a bit of rain) was the fact our lovely judge (who we felt would like our dogs) was ill & had to be replaced so our hopes were dashed! Would like to go for the judge this year but very doubtful we'll make it.

hey, i'll be there on the hound day with my slightly crazy ridgeback :) come say hi if your about. i would reccommend taking a chair, maybe one of the lightweight camping/fishing ones, you can get them in asda for a fiver, means you can carry it about and sit where you fancy.
