Don't think people realise just how many dogs a kennel would have to own inorder to produce a 'new breed' breeding true to type.

True Jackie. Thats the reason why I said in my post that only a working breed could hope to be established. Plenty of like minded people to work with the breed. No individual could hope to succeed.
Best wishes, John
I have a goldendoodle puppy currently and i can honestly say they are great. Dougal, is very low shedding and is only an F1. Hes's extremely friendly and has won a few agility competitions. I take him for a walk 2x a day off lead and he comes back straight away. We have a cavalier KC spaniel and although shes small they played beautifully togther, i swear he changes how he plays with different family members, like when i play with him its hardcore but if he plays with my 72 year old father he only plays gently or fetches. He is only 2 years old.

He sounds lovely :-) but all you can honestly say is
Dougal is great not that
they are great because
they can turn out in a great deal of variety in both coat and temperament.

QUOTE by Rachel20 I work for GDBA, so can tell you a bit about the labradoodles. We only ever used 6, the last being born in 1996. Only 3 of the 6 went on to make successful guide. This being the reason that they didn't continue with this cross. We experiment quite alot with breeds, we now have 2 long haired weims on the puppy walking scheme, as well as chesapeake bays and standard poodles.
Mainly, we use Lab x GR, and then a lesser number of labs, GR's. GR X FCR's and Shepherds, with the more 'unusual'( for Guide Dogs) breeds like the ones I mentioned very rarely. Guide Dogs have used several labrador cross poodles since 1996. :) There are some being puppy walked now.
>Hes's extremely friendly and has won a few agility competitions.
you cant enter agility competitions with a puppy.
