I am waiting on a phone call back from my vet, but thought I would ask all you experienced breeders out there about export.
I have a lady in Greece that wants a puppy from me. Although in Greece you dont have to vaccinate agaist rabies, from what I understand in order for the puppy to be given a pass port it HAS to be vaccinated against rabies BEFORE it is exported. The only difference is I wont have to have the blood test to make sure the vaccine has worked as the animal is not returning to the UK. Is this correct, and if it is the case am I right that the pup has to be 12 weeks old now before the vaccine can be given?
Many thanks
This is the latest information from the Greek Government site

I'm not a breeder and i wouldn't export to Greece unless i know the people personally and for them to be well established in owning said breed and come with high recommendations and even then i would expect them to come over and collect the pup rather than fly him over on his own.
Thats JMO

Hi, thanks for your advice. The lady lost her 14 year old dog 6 months ago and is now ready to have another dog of the same breed. She will be flying over to collect the puppy, and taking it back. I have seen photo's of herself, the family, her home on the edge of a forest and the older dog she recently lost, I have asked her lots of questions about her and her life style. I feel confident the puppy will be going to a very good home, otherwise I would not be considering exporting it.

I would be asking for independent references that you can verify for yourself such as breed clubs or vets.
Incidentally, you cannot use your affix as a forum name. If you contact Admin they will change it for you :-)

If she's willing to fly over etc, that would make me feel better, doesn't sound like a scan but you can never be to careful.

I will ask for a refrence from her vet also, but I once sold a pup to what I thought was the perfect home (in the UK) and it turned out to be the most heart breaking mistake I have ever made.
No matter how much you vet a person and go with your gut instinct, there will always be some person who has read all the books and say all the right things, only to turn into poor owners.
p.s many thanks for letting me know I have contacted admin:)

Well quite but so many more prospects of sorting it out when they remain in the same country as you. If anything goes amiss I would hate a dog to end up in Greece rescue.

True, I will think about this very carefully.
