Does anyone know of a natural weed killer not chemical one, its getting to that time of year again and i would rather not use chemicals.

I know i should just pull them out but i,ve got loads.

For the weeds between paving stones I use boiling water or vinegar.  Have to keep the dog in after using the boiling water for a few minutes in case he licks the stones and burns his tongue.  Mine won't lick the vinegar but some might.

I was told to use the water from boiled potatoes, can just see us draining our potatoes in the garden aiming for the weeds! I wonder if it is just the boiling water that kill them rather than anything from the potatoes.

Well I do that.  In the fall when I'm putting vegetables up for the freezer I run out with the big pot of boiling water and get as many weeds as I can.  It's the heat that kills the weeds.  They come back but not any faster than after a chemical weed killer, I find.  Don't do this in really cold weather or you might crack your paving stones.  I don't do it on the lawn because I can't control where the water will run.  And, you still have to go out and pick up all the bits of dead weeds.

I love blasting them with a gas gun (small blow torch)  :-D  Very theraputic :-D

Have also used boiling water, and salt in the centre of dandylions ;)

most home weed killers are safe to use around pets as long as the treated area has been left to dry.is it lawn,garden or path weeds you wont to kill, because this time of year lawn weedkillers dry very quick,garden weeds can be dug out by hand and path weedkillers dry quick or u can use a gas wand.using bleach is a bit risky as bleach will remain in the ground for a very long time,but with most weedkillers they only react when on the plant leaves and are harmless when on soil.

Having read the boxes of the 'safe' weedkillers there's no way I would entertain buying then or having them anywhere near my house/garden :(  it's just too big a risk and my children and dogs are just too precious to me :(  

Weeds, while unsightly and a nuisance aren't usually deadly and can be dealt with in other ways ;)

im only pointing out that used correctly they are safe to use around pets and children.most household cleaners can be dangerous around pets and children if used in..correctly but we still use these.i do a lot of gardening and won a few awards,i use weed and feeds twice a year on my lawn,path weedkillers once a year and have done so for a few years,i have 4 dogs,2 cats and 3 children, none have ever come to any harm and all play on the grass . some weedkillers are alot more dangerous than others and i admit that i wouldnt use ones which are used for ground clearence as these can stay in the ground for a very long time, but systematic weedkillers loose their effect after 3days or if the treated area becomes wet.again if the instructions are followed correctly and treated areas are left to dry they are safe.

take 1 husband,attach garden hoe,place in garden-preferably pointed at offending weeds,retreat indoors,turn key to lock door and do not open again until task completed.repeat every few weeks during growing season.

No no no.  With my suggested solution you have to employ a gardener :-)

My theory is as long its green its good, and you even get nice flowers with some of them !
