Anyone feed arden grange food...how do you find it?
- By simkhona1 [gb] Date 06.04.09 19:39 UTC
I feed my Samoyeds Arden Grange and it suits them really well, small firm poo, good coat and body, clean teeth ect.

A good food for a good price in my opinion

Feed it to my Giant schnauzers and find it excellent (they prefer the Lamb and Rice).

For me it's excellent stuff, I'd eat it myself if I were a dog :-p  Seriously, I find it to be very good value and the dogs love it, all 6 of them have good coats, loads of energy taking their various ages into account, and lovely poo's :-D

I do doctor it a bit every now and then some days they have just dry food and others less dry with either rice, pasta, cottage cheese, egg, cooked veg or tinned fish.

The best bit is if I'm in a hurry and it's a quick tea for them they will eat a bowl of AG with as much relish as they do with the trimmings.

feed my jack russell and boxer on arden grange around 2 years ago,and the boxer was going to toilet more often and it was very soft, and the jrt wouldnt eat it after about 8wks.i now use gilpa trinkets mixed with either the frozen packets (thawed) of tripe or lamb and both dogs are looking fab, and best of all only producing good firm stools and only going 3 times a day between them.although trinkets is not a premium food both dogs are doing really well on it so i will be keeping to this food.in my experience, if a dog likes the food your giving him,and they are in good health why change, after all ,all pet foods sold in the uk must be fit for the purpose by law.if arden grange suits your dog feed it.

Have fed it for years with great success, especially the Lamb one with anyone sensitive, though none of mien are, but various friends especially with GSD find the Lamb one especially good with their dogs with iffy digestion.

As for softer stools initially I think you will find that with any change at first.

I feed natures menu (in Tins) and also Royal Canin mini sensible to my 2 toy poodles and don't find I have any problems with their toilet unless they have lots of extras as well. I prefer to feed a wet food mainly as my 2 are quite fussy and eat it better than just dry but they do have the royal canin in kongs to eat if they want as I understand dry food is better for their teeth although I do clean their teeth every day with a toothbrush and dog tooth paste.

Doesn't the Lamb have really small kibble? I was going to try my Rotties on it (they currently have Chicken and rice large breed), but was concerned that they might hoover it down rather than eat it. The beastie does tend to inhale his food so I had visions of him getting a lung rather than a stomach full.

My dogs find Arden Grange very nice indeed.  :-)  I buy the Chicken and Rice.   Although once in a while I still "experiment" with other brands I always end up going back to Arden Grange.

Has anyone tried the salmon?
- By loucon [gb] Date 08.04.09 13:01 UTC
My cav is on the Arden Grange light, as me and the vet thought that she slowly needed to loose a bit of weight. Will keep her on the Arden Grange though as seems to suit her, firmer poo's so better all around really

Yes, i change between the lamb and rice and salmon for a change, no problems in the change of flavour, the only one i dont feed is the chicken and rice for some reason it dosent agree with them.

I have also fed it for some time and I am very happy with it, so are the dogs!! I feed the lamb and rice as a rule but have fed the salmon one with no problems. I tend to avoid the chicken as I have found it makes them a bit loose.

We've just changed our GR from Royal Canin to AG Lamb and Rice and he LOVES it.  He'd had RC puppy and junior, no probs, but really didn't like the adult version.  Changed over gradually over about 10 days.  Poo little bit softer to start but now back to normal and NOWHERE NEAR AS SMELLY as with RC, although don't think the quantity is any different (I've never written so much about poo as since getting our dog!).
- By newf3 [gb] Date 11.04.09 09:32 UTC
my pup came already feed on ag but i soon changed it to RC as my other two are on this and seem to be doing well.
But are feed a lot less then it says on the bag.
