Hi Sami,

My best advice to you is steer clear of anyone using this> dog whisperer monniker. It seems to in the main have been leapt upon by flimflam merchants and fly-by-nights ;)

With every confidence as I have used them I would recommend that you view the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors website (it will list reputable behaviourists in your area) worth also looking at is the Association of Pet Dog Trainers site they can often help with recommendations.

Hopefully one of our members from your area will come along with a personal recomendation for an accredited reward based behaiourist. (Bear in mind you may need a vet referal)

Good luck... but do be aware anyone can call themselves a Pet/Dog 'whisperer'... or Psychologist....

If you are having a problem in the home it is IMO imperative that the trainer comes to you and spends time watching your normal activities, I do not believe that you can decide what is going wrong in a strange office when the dogs adrenalin will be running and he will be acting in a different manner to that which is causing a problem at home.

I hope your problems aren't caused by the fact you believe this -remembering how you talked about pushing your puppy onto the floor etc. You need a REAL behaviourist and as has already been mentioned this normally means a vet referral. The first step whenever there is a behaviour problem should always be a vet check anyway.

Try the OLLEYS near York. They have helped me a lot with Della. They do  one to one sessions which are very good value as well as classes for various disciplines. It is well worth the trip down.

I went to John Rogerson's and got helpful advice , but I doubt you will be able to see him as he is away most of the time.
