Topic Dog Boards / General / Mad and upset...:(

Just going to have a rant...Today i found an ad in the free ads about a dog that needed to be re -homed (An American cocker aged 2 and a half)..i rang them and asked if they would consider giving the dog to the ACS rescue so it could go to a foster carer until a suitable home could be found and they said no they would never do that ! (I have forgotten to mention that they want £200 for him)..i said why not, if they needed to find a new home for him surely this would be the best option for him but again they said they wouldnt give him to the rescue..i asked what the reason was that they needed to re home him was and the answer was as follows...

"We are going on holiday and now my daughter cannot look after him"

I am so upset for this little guy and the whole thing stinks of them wanting another £200 holiday spending money.

:(

Agggghhhh wonder if the breeder knows?
- By Granitecitygirl [eu] Date 07.04.09 15:32 UTC
I'm sure a quick phone call to the seller asking if he has papers and who the parents are might do the trick to track down the breeder?

My friend is just going to call them to find out as many details as possible..im sure they would have recognised my voice had i rang again.

Friend spoke to the lady who said no paperwork came with the dog as its had 2 owners and previous owner said the would forward the paperwork but never did...puppy farm maybe.

There is a chance the dog is stolen to sale . and that's why they don't want to go to the rescue.

I doubt it. People think by selling the dog it in some way makes up for the money they have spent on it :-(

There may be more reasons to that than what theyre saying. people dont tell you everything no matter what they say

I just think that if a dog needs to be re homed and if you want it to go to vetted good homes then the rescue would have been the ideal..in a perfect world maybe.

All i can hope is that whoever wants him that by buying him for £200  then they would want, care, love and offer him a forever home.

Unfortunately this isnt the first sort of case like this and wont be the last.
Physically i cannot save and rescue all the dogs i would like to so i do tend to bury my head in the sand with this. I figure unless you can actually help it is best not to get involved as it only tortures yourself

that's disgusting-these people have no morals.if they had the dog's interest at heart they would have passed him on to the acs rescue, gladly.their behaviour stinks-i hope they read these messages and think again-but then i'm an optimist.x

Have you contacted the ACS rescue? I know with some breeds they will consider paying out £200 so they know the dog is removed and then found a good decent forever home..
It may be worth giving them a call and passing on the details. They don't even have to say they are from ACS rescue and just go and buy him.

I would have said quite a few words!!! Do let us know if the poor chap is bought / rescued - as an American cocker owner I'm particularly angry at this, though of course I would be furious reading this about any breed!

I know how you feel.  When I decided to get a rescue cat in New Zealand I was so excited for weeks but when I got there it was awful.  There were over 60 cats and kittens and cage after cage showed faces that had given up on people.  I expressed my shock at the numbers and the staff member told me that in peak season they would have 600.  The one I took home was the only one that wanted to come with me.  12 years on she is still going strong, I couldn't help them all but I have given 1 a lifetime of happy life.

the thing is i am still sad despite the majority being listed for homing already!! one girl in particular i adored but she's already been chosen.

though there is a gorgeous older pair, really beautiful with such terrific silly names- Marmaduke and Mugglewump- who i wish i could take home (nudge to anyone who wants cats!!)

Yes i have spoke to them but they just do not have the funds sadly..they said the same as some previous posters..that we can only hope that someone comes along that by buying him will really want and love him forever.

Ok don't get mad but I got My Milo from an ad someone who after a month couldn't put up with his noise when we went for him and found out that she was his second home he wasn't even 2 I paid over £300 for him and brought him home.  I have gone through hell the last 2 years lots of changes but have never once considered giving Milo up he has Just celebrated his 4th birthday and there was cake!!!!  I am his forever home and fingers crossed the person who rehomes this dog will be there forever home.  It isnt an ideal situation but honestly I would happily do it again I am a sucker for people who want to rehome older dogs I can't be the only one out there,so hopefully it will work out for this little one too.
