How bizarre!

I do agree with most of what PETA is about....however this does seem a little bizzarre...... and sometimes I do wonder what they are thinking when they do stuff like this...it doesnt exactly make people take them seriously does it?....Someone at PETA has had too much time on their hands and has thought too deeply on the subject if you ask me.Surely there are more pressing animal issues happening  in the world they could be dealing with.

Any sane person would not read into a bands name anything more than thats all it is.... a bands name.
I  dont for one minute link the band name with any kind of promotion for these establishments and I dont think when they called themselves the Pet Shop Boys they thought they would be linked with promoting that either .
Nor do I think that if they did change their name to The Rescue Centre Boys   it would make people rush out to save an animal from a rescue centre.....

Sorry PETA....I think your fab normally  but this idea is very silly

Philly.. I seriously hope you are joking...

Me too.  PETA, who would rather put a dog down than rehome it.

PETA finds new homes for roughly 1 in every 300 animals it takes in. In 2008 (according to PETA's own Animal Record) it took in 2,216 dogs, puppies, cats and kittens, and rehomed ..... 7. The rest were put to sleep.

im with you philly i am a member and have been found outside circuses campaigning...
my fella worries when he sees that a circus is in town..he got really worried in Arles last year when the circus came
and i wandered around it in the pitch black..he ran off......
and i used to be a zoo keeper and am against a few zoos i have seen at 1st hand....
have to say though that they are barking up the wrong tree with this latest report....

Here we go again........ I am so sick of people on here having a go at me because of what I believe in.
I never jump down anyones throat on here or have a go at them even if I disagree with what they are saying......

I was actually saying I DISAGREED WITH PETAS STANCE ON THE TOPIC ISSUE......and attacking me for something  that this thread is not about( ie what other issues PETA stands for ) and putting dissappointed sad smilies ater4 a quote which has noting to do with this thread I dont feel is fair......it happens everytime I open my mouth and to be honest,Im getting B ***** sick of it.

I loved reading CD's I found it interesting, informative and also found a few nice people on here (and you know who you are if your on my facebook profile)
I dont come here to argue or debate with anyone.......im not into all that ......period and being slagged off all the time doesnt help  my medical condition(which is not an excuse) get any better.....

I dont want to post anymore on here now about anything...so thanks a lot you lot........

Champdogs has lost another poster for the forseeable future ,maybe for good ......

Give yourselves a big clap for a job well done

Philly, what if someone was to come on this site and say they support puppy farms or backyard breeders?  What was said is a response to an opinion.  Please do not take things to heart - it really is not much more different to you saying you like Bon Jovi and me saying Yuk they need a haircut.  You volunteered the info that you support Peta and a response was given.  All respect to people that stand up for what they believe in, not enough people do it.  I 100% believe that Peta are not doing animal welfare any good, that's what I believe in.  If anyone said, in response to that, that I was obviously not interested in animal welfare I would tell them that it's their opinion and they are more than welcome to think of me what they will.  It doesn't bother me :-)  But I wouldn't quit a forum or social activity because of it - otherwise the bad guy wins ;-)

Great post GCG - it's our differences that make us interesting. :-) I'm absolutely positive that not everyone (you don't say? ;-))agrees with everything I say - so what? :-D :-D

Like I said ...it happens everytime I post,if it was only occasionally I would laugh it off.
I said I support Peta so I could  follow it up with I disagreed with what they were doing this time and thought they were being very silly .....not to say I SUPPORT PETA....come slag me off for it if you see what I mean.....I wasnt asking to debate  my beliefs at all with anyone or to invite a debate te rights and wrongs of said movement.

I dont give anyone on here a hard time and I get sick of having to defend myself all the time.

People can believe what they like, youre right,  their beliefs are  their porogative, their choice ........Im just feel really sad that people always feel they have to attack me for mine.

I dont feel im being silly by getting upset .......when your under constant fire all the time ,its difficult not too and Ive had enough.
I doubt ill be missed anyway judging by how most of you respond to my posts anyway
- By Granitecitygirl [eu] Date 09.04.09 12:57 UTC
I'm sorry you feel that way.  Personally, I haven't seen any personal attacks on you, but maybe I am not looking on the right threads.

philly i'm sorry you feel that way. i was feeling similarly recently and took a little break which helped but i don't think you should leave.

the thing is though if you mention belonging to an organisation that is so contrary to many of the people on heres beliefs they will say so- its a discussion forum, thats what its for, a GCG said if you chatted about the virtues of puppy farmers people would comment. having read the comments i don't think they were attacks and am genuinely interested in why you would support PETA given behaviour from them that i would consider negatively- of course its up to you if you choose answer and want to take up the discussion.

at the end of the day your beliefs are your own its no one elses business but i'm of the view that if a belief is worth having its worth defending.

i hope you reconsider leaving

I've just noticed your signature, Philly. It's good to see that you recognise that people can disagree and still be friends. :-)

I feel the exact opposite!  It is obviously a far fetched idea and is unlikely to come about but even the publicity of the request has raised some profile over the pet shop animals issue.  Not much of what else they spout is anything like as sensible.
- By starmutley [gb] Date 09.04.09 16:45 UTC
It makes you wonder why now? The Pet Shop Boys have been around since the eighties tis a little late to be changing their name methinks!! The only publicity gained, I think, would be for the band!

                                              (((((( Oi !!! )))))))
Who just slammed that door and stomped up the stairs, slamming the bedroom door and throwing themselves on the bed so hard it nearly came through the floor!!???

~ I'm sitting here covered in ceiling plaster trying to play me point&click games!!! ~

Philly Flower....

I'm sitting the other side of the bedroom door (posting little bits of chocolate under it) and I aint movin, so your gonna have to listen (Turn the U2 down!! ;))

I might get brave and crack the door open..but not till I've posted enough chocolate through to make sure you're too fat to move quick and throttle me :-D

Now life.... is like a box of chocolates (stop sniggering Im being philly-sophical !)
..... and so is this Forum
You gets your tough nuts, your squashy soft centres, the coffee one that leaves a bitter taste, the strawberry one bit sweet but everyone loves, and that one that (for me its fudge!!) no-one quite understands why its there :-D ;)

we've got the Micheal Parkinsons...heck we've even got the Jades!
we've got the good, the bad, the ugly......and the clinically insane! and every shade in between.

You've a place here Philly, and you'd be a loss and each and every member in their own right for their differing merits would be. So I'll keep your place warm for you (but don't be long!! I've got important point&clicking to be doing!!)
I know how you feel...we all know how you feel, we've all had that awful  "Gordon bennet!" stomp away from the PC moment realizing your sooo hacked off you'd rather go talk to the OH!!

Now.... don't make me resort to 'Plan B' (involves a bit of garden hose under the door, a bicycle pump, and a Stowells wine box!!!!! ;))
