I have made a decision that i would like some more trees on our land and ones which have an extra purpose like fruit bearing trees.
I LOVE pecan and really would love one of these trees so i don't have to spend a fortune on buying the nuts, which aren't cheap. I know that it can take years for a tree to bore any fruit but the idea of planting one and then watching it grow and hopefully produce something i like to eat really interests me.
Oh and i can think of many other trees which i would have given the chance - like banana and coconut.. (shame i live in a cold climate hey).
ETA: My question is does anyone know where i can purchase one of these trees in England, i would prefer to see them rather than do mail order(not trusting for living plants on these). I have searched on google and can't find anything in Sussex which is where i live.
A bit more info for you. I think you might struggle to provide the right conditions because although it will want it warm it will also want it wet. Hard to find those conditions in Britain where warm often means drought in summer.
I'm so very fussy JG, not a fan of these either. I was thinking of olives, but not sure about different varieties and even if this would be a good option. Love figs and dates. Umm, said Banana and coconut... Lychee, pomegranate, mango etc are fruits i love.
Nuts i like are pistashio and cashew and the odd walnut.
I know, BUT what about my dogs they would hate it there and can't see myself getting a breed of dog that loves the heat..(Can't believe that i'm deciding my life around my dogs.. lol) Currently other than a Bernese i would go for a Newf, so the tropics are no the place to be with either breed..
