Christies do a start up package that has all the basic things you need . Look on ebay for things like second hand dog baths but do not buy second hand clippers as you really need to have a good quality pair. Also invest in good quality scissors as they will give you a better result than cheap ones.
All my customers ,the canine ones!, all leave my salon with a little bow on just to give that special touch. Also try and get the owners to book in advance for their next appointment and you could make up some leaflets explaining how to groom their dog properly at home as it will hopefully make your job a bit easier when they come to you for their appointments. I do this, it doesnt work all the time but its helpfull .
good luck with your new venture you will love it.
