The Horse and Hounds has not changed much over the years I thought whilst I sat thumbing through one in my Doctors surgery, as you do, well I was wrong because there amongst the Dogs section I saw the following -

Good quality Jugs ready now

Must be in the wrong section I thought but no they are apparently dogs, Jack Russells x Pugs no less, now what is the point of that I wonder, only costs £650 for these quality Jugs.

Thought to get a good Pug was difficult so why would anyone let their dog or bitch be crossed with a cross, surely a quality Pug mated to another would fetch more than the more than adequate £650.
- By qwerty Date 01.04.09 21:13 UTC
maybe the owners have the jack russell bitch and pug dog...
- By Nova Date 01.04.09 21:35 UTC
Does that mean they have to breed them and call the result by such a daft name.
- By Missie Date 01.04.09 21:36 UTC
I found out last Friday that the woman down the road brought two of them  from the resident gypsy camp! She wouldn't say how much she paid for them, but she was real proud *big sigh*
looked absolutely nothing like a pug at all

A friend of mine recently bought a "Jug", funny looking little thing, boggle eyes and a long snout, with its tongue hanging out all the time.
- By mahonc Date 02.04.09 09:45 UTC
i though this was going to be a rude post! :o

LOL   I'm am glad I wasn't the only one. My mind doesn't normally work that way at all, I think I must have too much time on my hands at the moment. :-o

Me too, i read the initial post and then thought i was being silly, guess i wasn't the only one now, hence me not feeling as silly to post.
- By ANNM172 [gb] Date 02.04.09 18:08 UTC
Ditto the thinking it was a rude post- pmsl!
- By Nova Date 02.04.09 19:00 UTC
Must be an innocent I can see anything suggestive in the title but perhaps I am too old.
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 02.04.09 19:28 UTC
Nova you must be then because when I first read it I was thinking why are they bringing that up :)  Though I quite like my jugs.  Whoops I'd better behave now.
- By Nova Date 02.04.09 20:45 UTC
Well it's a long while since I have felt like a total innocent but I do now - apologies if I have caused offence.

Perhaps if someone would PM me I will not re-offended.
- By Lokis mum [gb] Date 02.04.09 20:52 UTC
Well, I really, truly thought that this would be a discussion about the quality of glass -v- stainless steel jugs as the summer is coming on, and we'd be thinking about long cool drinks!!!

(and as some of you will testify, my mind can jump to the most shocking conclusions at times )

Margot ;)
- By krusewalker [gb] Date 02.04.09 20:59 UTC
yep, i spotted the innuendo straight away as well.
- By Sullysmum Date 02.04.09 21:15 UTC
I thought like Lokis mum, was going to say Pyrex!
- By Brainless [gb] Date 02.04.09 21:23 UTC
Me too as my Myka keeps fishing my plastic ones out of the sink and chewing them, and Pyrex ones have a nasty way of leaving bits of glass hanging around for months if broken.
- By ANNM172 [gb] Date 03.04.09 06:02 UTC
Hi Nova

Not offended- Thought it was funny...
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 03.04.09 06:47 UTC
I'm with Margot, can't find a decent Pyrex jug these days - the writing seems to wear off in no time. :-(

Note to self ... get life!

Another one here who thought it was a rude post !!

Going back to Jack Russell x Pugs though - I have heard of these before as a kennels in America started advertising them ages ago. I can't believe anyone would be silly enough to fork out that much for a crossbred - but theres always someone who thinks they are getting an amazing 'breed' that no-one else has :-(

i think you made a few people smile rather than offend them!! :)
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 03.04.09 11:32 UTC
Yep definitely made us smile, not offended in any way!
- By yorkies4eva [gb] Date 03.04.09 11:43 UTC
hahaha well glad i wasnt the only one who wondered about the wording on this post :) haha
- By Nova Date 03.04.09 12:51 UTC
Deep blush - it was a totaly unknow use of the word to me, glad it was only mildly rude :-)

I am no prude but I had never come across that one, guess it is an age difference or perhaps location.
- By labs [gb] Date 03.04.09 14:59 UTC
I was registering someone's new pup at the vets a couple of years ago and when I asked what breed is your new pup, I was told "its a jug" I thought I had heard wrong and said excuse me but the reply was definately jug! I quickly put together what it was and said "oh do you mean jrt x pug" "yes" was the reply, "well, I will have to put it down as a crossbreed as we only have real breeds on the system" Was my reply, the lady was so proud of her jug til I shot her down in flames, I felt a bit mean but only for a second!!!!!
- By mahonc Date 03.04.09 15:03 UTC

> , I will have to put it down as a crossbreed as we only have real breeds on the system" Was my reply

well right too, when i was young it was either a pedigree or mongrel nothing wrong with either as long as it was healthy and was a good pet. No point at all making up a name for a cross breed. When i was young i had a gsdx lab most fantastic loyal dog with great intelligence but i knew he was a mongrel and didnt say he was a gerlab or such nonesense
