Hannah is arriving at the Animal Reception Centre at LHR at 15.30 so we will soon be off! Our other 3 doglets are in kennels for the night and we have set up the stairgate at the end of the kitchen so she has an area of her own to eat and sleep in while she gets used to things. I had a text from the Greek Rescue people to say that she has left Athens and is en route to us!
I can't believe I have actually achieved this - keep thinking back to last July when I first noticed young Hannah as a brown blob in amongst the beach beds! Well - she won't know this at the moment but she is coming to a much better life. It may take her a while to realise what a lucky girl she is but with patience we will get there I am sure. I will post more later when she is home.
Incidentally I have started to write "Hannah's Story" which I have been meaning to do for ages. As part of it I am starting "Hannah's Diary" - Day One being today. I thought it will be interesting to monitor her progress on a daily basis.
Wish us luck .....

the very best of luck!
Well done you, it reminds me of my young SIL who bought a cat back from Spain, cost her a fortune but he's still going strong called "Carlos" no less. Hannah's diary go for it ! in a few years it will be a film.

Good Luck mary, Have been thinking about you all day and did do you a post over on HW. Hannah is a very lucky girl to have you.
Good luck hope everything goes well for you,and Hannah settles down to the life she deserves.
Well we have been home for a while. Took ages at the Animal Reception Centre and the Cargo People at Heathrow but we made it in the end.
Hannah looks as lovely as she did when I spotted her on the beach, She has eaten up well and - dare I say - I do think that she (maybe)recognises me from last July in Crete .....
My 3 doglets will arrive back from the kennels tomorrow - so we will see how things pan out ....... thanks for your good wishes

What a lovely story this is, snowflake. I am so looking forward to the next episode and more pictures :-)

ditto to that.
What a heartwarming story, will look forward to hearing more :-)
Considering what she has been through, Hannah is a very well behaved dog. When I saw her as the attendant brought her to us at the Animal Reception Centre I though Gosh! She is smaller than I remembered. This of course I later realised was because she was skulking and cringeing in fear bless her. We had an awful job getting her into the car. However today she has brightened up a bit and looks 10 feet taller!! She hardly ever barks and at the moment is very nervous and unsure. She is better with me than with my husband. I imagine she has suffered a fair amount of abuse in her short life from men (I saw the beach bed men kick her several times) so not surprising. I am sure she will overcome this but it will take time. She hates walking on a lead as probably never has.
So today we let her potter around the garden with the lead attached - as you do with a puppy. Later we took her to the nearby moor with our other dogs. After a lot of perseverance she did walk a bit on lead and now anad again seemed to enjoy it. Being a hound there is an awful lot of sniffing! We met a few peeps I know with their dogs so it is all good for her. She is eating up well and so far only one accident indoors.
I do think we have taken on quite a project though merely because she has had no training or socialisation and of course has suffered abuse in the past. I must say our 3 doglets have beem fine and she seems to like them. I have put a stairgate up at the end of our kitchen so she has an area of her own where she feels secure. I am sitting here on the computer and she is in her bed next to me in "her" little area. She is fast asleep.
She is a stunning looking dog, quite unusual. I have been taking pics and will post some soon. So far so good .....

Good Luck!
Poor love its quite common for other peeps to not be as soft on animals as we doggie people are. Cant wait to see a picture asap.
She'll be well loved and time will heal, makes me wounder when someone like Ceaser Millan says "dogs live for the moment" why they arent all adaptable 24/7 doesn't it?
Keep up with the Hannah diary!
