Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Crossbreed's adult weight will be?

I have a Pit Bull/Bull Mastiff puppy that weighs about 26 pounds at about 14 weeks of age. Is there a method of accurately determining his adult weight via his current weight and age since he is a mix?

usually you need to look at the weight of the parents.most bandogs are bred from an apbt male and mastiff female as this usually makes larger pups than the other way round.most also tend to use large pit bull terriers in this cross.most of these crosses will end up between 85 and 120lbs in decent shape when mature with around 90 - 100lbs being more the norm..

There is no way to tell which genes the cross breed has, the size could be anything from a Pit Bull to a Bull Mastiff or even outside this, you will have to wait and see, the same goes for other characteristics. Ja:)kie

It' kinda like a kinder surprise :) Thats the way I look at it, you never know what you got till the pup grows up.

The problem here is we rescued our pup from a backyard breeder who was raising him for evil fighting purposes and he was trying to sell him as a pure bred AmStaff. We knew right away as soon as we saw the extremely aggresive Bull Mastiff in the cage in the garage "guarding" his motorcycle and our pup that he was a backyard breeder looking to make a dollar. Besides, we knew 200 dollars was too good to be true for an AmStaff. The problem here is that the parents were not on the premesis so we have no idea how big he is going to get.

However, one of our vet's told us that if you multiply his weight at 12 weeks by five, that you should be able to get a pretty good guess at his adult weight. Can anyone confirm this or is it a bunch of nonsense?
