I was chatting to a friend over the weekend, who sometime ago had a litter of pups.  This was from a slip mateing, can you tell me when a slip mateing occurs whose fault is it?  The dog or Bitch?  Or is it just that she is not quite ready so doesn't tie?  When this occured the stud dog owner said it was all down to the bitch, we are not sure?  As i say there was puppies produced just no tie. 

I mated my bitch on her last season. Two slip matings day 10 & 12  - No puppies. I am sure it was down to the dog

Basically the tie is up to the bitch 'gripping' the male dog when penetrated.   THIS ARTICLE may help to better understand slip matings and some of the misconceptions around them
