hi there, our 5 month old king charles timo, who has been pretty much clean indoors for months, suddenly has started weeing indoors, mostly when im out of the room, despite being put outside every so often and told to"hurry up" which is the word i use.i have praised him when he does it outside and on walks but this relapse came on suddenly.he is still dry all night and seems to wet when hes had a play and ive left the room momentarily.i wonder if its his hormones as hes also a bit spooked by things he was previously all right with and also with training hes less co-operative and reluctant, although with loads of praising he warms up to the idea.could it be a fear stage and how can i help him overcome his wetting indoors? would getting him outdoors every half hour or so make him more nervous? any advice gratefully received, roy.

Pups do go through a stage of 'going backwards' in everything they have learnt. It's best to ignore any change in behaviour, unless it is behaviour that you want. Carry on with his normal way of life. Don't get upset with him if he pees indoors, just clean it up. Praise him when he pees outside. He will come out the other end a normal pup, so long as you don't make too much of the change in his behaviour.

Oh, it might be worthwhile to have a trip to the vets to make sure that he doesn't have an infection, but it sounds like he is just being a normal pup. ;-)

His behaviour is also normal. Again, pups go through a stage where everything is scarey. Even their own shadow could be scarey :-) Ignore it if you can, or distract him if you can't. He should soon be back to normal. :-D

There is a point about now, when they seem so grown up, that it's easy to forget just how far they've come.  I remember getting a few "but I'm still only a baby" reminders at around this age!!

Going outside regularly is a good idea and if it means increasing the frequency for a while then it's worth it.   Go out after play too as the excitement certainly makes it more difficult for them to control.  Do make sure you go with the puppy to check he has done what you need him to.  Left to his own devices he'll probably forget to go...
