I use mainly frozen as can store about 3 weeks worth at a time any type of meat includiong offal . If I go to the butcher I ask for bones for the dog and that I would give fresh. My gsd wont eat raw veg so I add anything we have left over as and when . I dont make a big deal of how often.  I would carry on with the veg as you are.
I also buy pichards in tom sauce or oil or sardines any other fish I can get hold of cheap. Infact except the carbs its not far different from feeding us! I dont give rice potatoes or pasta as rule .
I also buy basics frozen chicken from sainsburys its the cheapest I have found
Raw eggs here and there cottage cheese and natural yogurt and occasionally baked beans.
Poo... yes lot less output and firmer and less smelly. If too firm reduce the bones  if runny add more bone.My 40kg gsd gets about 1kg a day. He is 2 years old in may and has been on that amount since about 12months I was advised to think of him as you would a child you soon get to know if you are under or overfeeding your kids mainly I use instinct. Somewhere there is a rough calulation but cant rember wher someone else will be able to. i also feed my toy dog the same ( no about 100g not the same amount as gsd LOL)
So its raw roast dinner is it for sunday dinner ?
I am sure others will give you more tips or try looking at Krisanrio gsd or the book a dogs dinner by Anne Ridyard and read up on Tom Lonsdale and Ian Billingshurst and join brit barf.
Hope that helps, if you want to pm please do x

Just picked up some more of Taste of the Wild and this time we grabbed Wetlands canine forumula with Roasted Wild Fowl, and I also grabbed some Salmon strips for treats... We are going to try every bag of Taste of The Wild then try a different dogfood... They seem to have 3 different flavors- think next time we will try the Pacific stream canine formula with roasted salmon...

T-Bone is not a treat dog and she just gets all hyper for these treats- totally different dog- before she would just ignore treats unless of course it was our food- good to see that she enjoys her food/treats...

after trying many premium dog foods without alot of success,i think ive found a diet my boxer and jack russell seem to enjoy, doesnt upset their stomach, firmed the stools, only going to toilet twice a day and best of all both dogs are looking brill.whats the food, gilpa trinkets with raw tripe, chicken or lamb.i know im going to get critised for feeding gilpa but the dogs have never looked so good, and in the past ive feed royal canin, science plan ,jwb and quite few others without success

Raw food diet

Chicken wings, ox heart, ox tongue, beef chunks, lamb breast, tripe chunks or mince, lamb mince, oily fish once or twice a week both dogs love the odd bit of apple, carrot or broccoli stem.

I really can't see how the mass produced dog food is a benefit to dogs, I am sure we have mostly been brainwashed into thinking that it really is what dogs are supposed to eat lol

dry kibble obvious is not the best but it has become popular because its so much easier and less expensive to feed... I always try to find a better dry kibble and this lil store by my place really seems to stock all the best like cannisource, taste of the wild ect ect- so I do have many choices to chose from which I like not to mention its free from alot of things- dogs poo alot less- not much of a smell, just seems alot cleaner so to speak- they also have a wide variety of raw food you can purchase as well... http://www.metropetmarket.ca/

from poppity, thankyou so much for the good tips furriefriends and all.i'll use up what i have left of the dry/wet food and shop on monday for raw.poppy is having a big outing today with my older girl and her partner so i've been round everywhere with the hoover and duster.it's a wonder she's got any hair left she sheds so much at the moment.she's in seson for the first time too so is staying on the lead while she's out which is a bit frustrating for her.i'll let you know how she gets on with the raw food diet but it sounds a lot more appetising that what she has now, plus i'll know what's in it.
