Hi i had a wonderful mothers day brekki made by the hubby and the children but they seem to have made enough for the street LOL so there is alot of black and white pudding left over
i was wondering if its alright to give to the dogs???
i hate wasting food and i know it will go in the bin otherwise!

sorry, not sure if it's alright to give dogs, i wouldn't give it to mine, but i'd really like to know, what is white pudding made from? :)

its just meat products and cereal isn't it ?

My OH shares little bits of black & white pudding with our dogs regularly. They particularly love the black pudding :-) I can't stand the stuff so they're welcome to my share.

We've given our dogs black pudding before, can't see that there is anything in it which would cause any problems. The dogs loved it and as a treat very now and then they get some.
Thanks everyone
i think i will give them a try of some i know they will like it LOL
me i cant stand the stuff either!

They are made from pigs blood, pork fat and cereal (oatmeal and or barley)& cooked before they are sold

My husband is Irish and i had never heard of white pudding til i went there just the different types of black pudding that we eat allover. How does the white pudding stay white thats what i have always wondered?

White pudding is black pudding without the blood ;-)

We have white pudding here in the NE of Scotland and it is made from lard, onions and oatmeal the same as skirlie or oatmeal stuffing.

I often slice and then nuke it for bait. It is grain and blood why would it not be OK for the dogs?

Mine all love black pudding, the smell of it makes them go crazy. They don't get it often but I can't see how it would not be ok for dogs to eat.
Well i gave it to my lot and they loved it lol
i didn't give the white kind yet as i always think this is a bit peppery i don't know if this is just me though!
i am just a little worrier when i give bits to my lot i am afraid incase it give's them the runs but i know they love this so i might do as brainless does and use it as bait they did go mad for it!
yes the white is the same as the black but with out the blood!!

might get some as training treats hadn't thought of that. Gosh did your family think they would have started such a discussion when they did your breakfast lol
LOL i didn't but i am glad i asked now because it hasn't went in the bin

Well you learn something every day! :)
my lot love it , only get it occasionally , hmm thats a good idea about using it as bait , also the tinned corned beef my male goes crazy for it , might try it as bait

I think I will try this, never thought about it before. Does anyone know if it is high in salt?

I have never thought of giving Balck Pudding to the dogs. Mentioned it to OH who started drooling at the thought, having been on a low fat diet for the last 6 months and feeling deprived of his favourite Balck pudding. He says that the dogs are fed better than him these days.
