Which programme have you found best and easiest to use when designing a website?

Thanks

I use www.piczo.com

Hi,

I use Mr Site for mine now after building a previous one with Microsoft Publisher. My weblink is on my profile (completely unrelated to dogs BTW!!!) :-)

Thanks for the replies everyone....Is Mr Site the same idea as Microsoft Publisher? I have a website but the server is playing up, so i think it`s time for a new one!!

Hi HoundHam,

I've found Mr Site to be much much easier than Publisher, as it's all template based so no fiddling around is needed with buttons and alignment etc, or uploading via FTP to a host provider as it's all 'self contained', although I know some people do find it a little restrictive, but it depends on whether you want a good straightforward site of something a little more flashy and adaptable.

I highly recomend webeden. It is less than £30 a year and very easy to use

I use Serif Webplus 9 and upload it to my ISP's free webspace.

Microsoft Office Live - very easy to use.    If you click on my profile you can see my website - still work in progress though (Not the pedigree site that is someone else's work, I'm only an inputer on that!).

Ditto to what Christine said - I find it very easy and professional looking, and no adverts.

I think we need to distinguish here between creating a website (and the program used) and web-hosting (where your website is uploaded to).

As I said for the Former I use Serif Webplus9, and the latter I use my ISP, which was Telewest, and now is Virgin under the Blueyonder name.

Im lost now, Im looking for a free tool to create a website.  I have a webhoster which supplied me with a template but I aint keen on it however you cant change it so want to redesign my own site and upload it.

So can anyone tell me any FREE tools or programs I can use to design the site rather than web hosting?

Try netobjects.com....I think that might be what you are looking for. hth

You can get an earlier version of Serif Web-plus for free.  Used to be version 6 (I then bought version 9 for about £30).  There are never versions again now. http://www.serif.com/webplus/

Here is the latest one that is free. http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/software/WebPlus/default.asp Probably newer than the one I paid for.

Personally I would pay the £9.99 for the version 10, it is very useful to have the ability to download your pages back into the program from the web should you loose your files on your computer, or change computers.

Microsoft Frontpage is so easy and when it comes to uploading it there's no messing about with FTP.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 28.03.09 01:25 UTC
See now I couldn't get on with it, and have no problem with FTP as it is part of the program I use.
- By HoundHam [gb] Date 28.03.09 16:18 UTC
I Liked Microsoft Frontpage, but i can`t use it on Vista, I have to buy SharePoint Disgner which is around £200,00 and I Don`t want to do that for 1 site (my own!!)....Is there a cheaper alternative I can use?

Thanks.
