my girl is on day 60 and most whelp at this time in this breed !!

last night and again tonight loads of panting and cleaning herself , she as been doing this in the day but not as much ..so why do thay go like this more at night ...and just when its time for me to go to bed lol ..her temp as been low (37c/98.6) for the last few days so i think she will drop more yet ..

just wonderd if any1 knew why the panting is worse late at night ???

Easy.  Just in case you need a vet, making sure it costs an arm and a leg!!  :-)  :-)  :-)

have a coffee. its a vaso constrictor- can help cause migraines but when you are actually having one can help with the pain. weird huh?

try and sleep a bit, can anyone else watch her?

On day 63 from 1st mating but she has decided not to have them yet, very tired though and is sleeping most of the time, she is so big that moving far is a problem.

- By white lilly [gb] Date 18.03.09 12:29 UTC
vet said not to give her any puppy milk so will evaporated be ok ? ive never had to give any kind of milk before whelp before xx
- By lillymum [gb] Date 18.03.09 12:40 UTC Edited 18.03.09 12:47 UTC
i dont give puppy milk and mine have be ok on evaporated. my girl still has it now while pups are feeding from her

try giving it to her to get het to start drinking to help bring more milk in ready for when the pups arrive

think its the creamyness they like but make it half milk and half water
- By white lilly [gb] Date 18.03.09 12:55 UTC
thanks hun im going to go and get some now :) xx
- By lillymum [gb] Date 18.03.09 13:06 UTC
your welcome x

also if you have to hand rear any pups i use the same method i dont use puppy milk x
- By JeanSW Date 18.03.09 13:52 UTC
totally agree with evaporated milk, it will really help the milk afterwards too.  my girls will always drink loads more when I put evap in their water, so helping lactation.
- By white lilly [gb] Date 18.03.09 13:56 UTC
her temp as dropped now its 36.8 and shes stuck to me like glue .Shes just been out and her poos like water :( ..mum-in-law has some for me but i carnt leave her ,im on my own till oh gets back in 2h , not to worried about her milk she as loads its starting to come out on its own ..i just wish she have a drink , xx
her tum is making so many noises she must be starveing :( xx

- By white lilly [gb] Date 18.03.09 14:03 UTC

xx
- By white lilly [gb] Date 18.03.09 14:06 UTC
when i went to bed last night i just knew it was my last good nights sleep lol :) xx

early hours of the night im thinking ?? and i think 6/7 even tho vet scaned 4 ..i carnt put her breed but she weighs 36kg and was 29.70 last time she was weighed :)
- By lillymum [gb] Date 18.03.09 14:13 UTC
you could try putting a little bit of sugar in her water and dab your finger in it and show her it till you can get some evaporated milk

my pups are 9 days now and gaining weight nicely with mum drinking the evaparated milk they are just over a pound each (small breed)

i quess she will start later if shes got runny poos
- By white lilly [gb] Date 18.03.09 14:42 UTC
got some evaporated milk

- By white lilly [gb] Date 18.03.09 19:29 UTC
Hi nothing happening yet :( but her temp is now 36.5 and has been for the last 4h :)
- By newfiedreams Date 18.03.09 19:32 UTC
AT NIGHT! Because they are naturally nocturnal and we make them abide by our times?? ;-)
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 18.03.09 19:33 UTC
Because there are fewer predators about at night, so whelping is safer?
- By newfiedreams Date 18.03.09 19:40 UTC
Shall we start a poll??!! :-) Personally I'm of the opinion that they just like being difficult...the same way as they are always norty...'just to rack us off'...ermm I'm kidding of course, have to say that otherwise the forum police will think I mean it! ;-)
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 18.03.09 19:43 UTC
It's probably the same as they always injure themselves just after the vet has closed for the weekend (or on a Bank Holiday) to make the visit even more expensive!
- By newfiedreams Date 18.03.09 19:44 UTC
:-o :-)
- By Isabel Date 18.03.09 19:45 UTC
Ladies most often produce their babies in the wee small hours too so we must not hold it against the little creatures too much :-)
- By PippaJ [in] Date 18.03.09 19:46 UTC
fingers crossed hun x x x
