My 15 week old Boxer pup came to me on ProPlan but he only ever really picked at it, so I tried various other foods until I found one he seemed to really like, Eukanuba.  But, he actually prefers my older dogs food, which is Gusto Adult Light!!!!  At first I thought it was just because he liked to pinch my older dogs food, but if I put him a bowl of each food down he'll choose to eat the Adult Light - daft bat!  I've told him, there will be plenty of time for him to get on to diet food as he gets older, no need to rush to it now, lol!

Our 12 week old pup is the same, though anything is more interesting than his and yes a bowl of my dogs food is going to appeal more. Don't allow him to have any of it though, split them up at feeding times.

When i got my current boy who is nearly 2 he was raised on RC, like your he picked at it and was a horrendous eater. In the end i moved to the BARF diet and he started to eat. Just found Orijen and he eats that without any topper on it.

Some dogs really just like variety.  I've never understood why some vets and the dog food industry expect us to believe that "dogs do not need variety" when doctors and nutrionists tell people just the opposite.  What if the same foods every day for our entire lives?  It may be balanced nutrionally, but we'd soon be tired of it.

Suejaw I do split them up - Fin eats in the kitchen where she has always eaten, and Bob eats in the lounge, then he toddles off to look for any she might have left, lol!!

My last puppy came home with a 3kg bag of pedigree, she enjoyed it but i slowly changed her over to hills and is now eating royal canin which she eats well and nearly always cleans her bowl, i quite like the smell. My other half says it smells like Mc D's Chips! Haha :-)

Hi Jacey, just thought I'd add this as food for thought (pardon the pun).

My Boxer was incredibly fussy about food from day one when we picked him up at 8 weeks old. He sometimes went for a couple of days without eating as he would just nibble at what I gave him then lose interest. He was very into tripe for a little while but then went off that too.

At ten months old I switched him onto the BARF diet and I've never seen him so enthusiatic about eating his dinner. It's a delight to see. We had a bit of a shaky start on the raw stuff as he had Colitis but now he is over that he is loving his new diet and I'm convinced it's because of the variety he gets.

I would thoroughly recommend it
