I was asked today how a person would go about getting a stud book number for her dog, and to be honest I did not know. Can you guys give me the correct information. (I think its to do with showing but not sure)

1st 2nd or 3rd in open class
1st in limit class.

Is breed dependent I believe as to which classes & places get you a Stud book number & it can change on an annual basis too (or so I believe as I'm sure I read that somewhere - I know TTs have had their criteria changed from when I remember it).

Yes it definitely depends on the breed. In my breed it is either a CC, an RCC or a first in Open at a champ.show which has CCs on offer. Other breeds allows seconds and thirds and Limit too.

You know i never knew the answer to this either. Good to know and we are currently the same as the Newf's and Leo's amongst many other breeds.

a Junior warrant also gives you a stud book number ...doesnt it??

Can i ask further to this, if a dog gets a CC from a class not being open or limit does that qualify a stud book number?

For stud book numbers from limit and open it depends what bad you are in.
my breed it is only 1st and 2nd in open, then with the cc/rcc or jw.
It can be very confusing

That's the only one I can remember, as Henry got his SBN from Junior / Graduate wins when he got the CC!
