Ive heard so many different ways,sum say leave the dam do it, but others say to tie it then cut it etc? HELP! THANX

If interference is necessary (and it usually isn't) then the way I was taught many years ago was to first squeeze as much blood from the cord into the puppy's circulation, then grip the cord firmly about and inch from the puppy and crush and tear it with your thumbnails. The crushing and tearing seals the blood vessels so no tying should be necessary.

I've never been able to sever a cord with my nails so I clamp, cut and potassium permanganate to seal and stop infection.
