Hi all on day10 had a progesterone blood test came back 24 so she ovulated on day11 took her to the stud dog on day13 tied for 20mins went very well.
She was more than ready stud dog was very interesed indeed. But there was a very ripe smell. Stud dog owner said that it was because the eggs were ready.
She is in very good health but no smell today. Have any of you had that ripe smell at a mating ?

I think you will find it's a 'hormonal' smell...usually sends the stud dog wild!

24ng/ml is very high .Ovulation occurs between 4 and 10 ng/ml

She had 2 smear tests done & they said she was not quite ready but when she had the blood test it showed that she was just about to ovulate.
I do not know were the 24ng/ml came from. I will ask my vet.

I can always tell if my girls are ready to mate by that "ripe" smell. It is what drives the boys wild!!!
as long as it has now gone and there is no foul discharge then I would say you had the day spot on.
Good luck, you keeping one?

I think the reading is more likely to be 24 nmol/L in which case ovulation occurs at around 18-20, very confusing to have to 2 systems!

Yes if the test was sent to idexx then they have their immulite machine set to read in nmol/l .I have mine set to read in ng/ml.We normally do breedings between 15 and 18 ng/ml
