I wormed my pups at 2wks,5wks,8wks&12wks.As for weaning,I introduced porridge with puppy milk at 3 weeks.Mine is a large breed,so it may depend on size. They were completely weaned at 5 weeks, but only because mum was very sore, she still had plenty of milk.

has i dont know your breed ie..small.. med.. large ...and how many in the litter ??? .our last litter was med breed with alot of pups (9) we started weening at 3weeks ..just with mushed up puppy meal and goats milk making sure water there for them all the time ..mum would still feed them after thay had done eating .....by 6weeks thay were having 4/5 meals  aday and mum feed at night only ....

i wormed from 2weeks and did this every 2 weeks till pups went to new homes....

we took them out in the car from 4weeks and walked around with them geting them use to different noises ...by 5 weeks all pups and our other dogs were playing together and teaching them to wee and poo on paper :)

Hi Gaz,

It may be too late to edit your post,Unwittingly as a previous post may have led you astray there ;) You have mentioned your breed which is against the TOS of this forum, when discussing litters. (Due to abuse in the past of people trying to use questions as a cover for advertising puppies) As I said it obvious you've done this unwittingly. :)

White Lillys, can you not persist in doing this! you are very aware that breeds cannot be mentioned and as a very novice (first time) breeder yourself I fail to see what relevance this line of questioning could be to you??

hi gaz you could try giving your puppies evporated milk with water i find that puppies and older dogs love this when they wont touch anything else, i normally start weaning around 3/4 i always give my puppies porridge in the morning and evening, and then what puppy meat you decide to use good luck with your 1st litter.

I always start my pups of with raw minced beef, never had a refusal, milk they can get too easily from Mum. Once they have got the hang of eating then I introduce soaked complete, raw tripe and milky porridge. They take to it much better then I find. Just my way though..others do equally well with other methods. It's trial and error really and when you find something interesting enough for them to start they usually take to anything else with ease.

'Hi Gaz,
I start weening between 3-4 weeks, with readybrek mixed with puppy milk (I buy 5kg from canine chemist direct) I worm my bitch before mating, then the pups 3weeks then 6weeks, with panacur paste, it is so easy to give and the puppies to take. I buy it from the same place.  Also tuna flakes that are easy for the puppies to eat. The puppies have the 3rd worming when they go for there injections usally with the new owners. Always have fresh water they will go there on there own, some quicker than others.

I must say that when I start weening I put my finger in the readybrek and let the pups lick it off then slowly move the bowl up to there mouths until the start to lick out of it.
I also give every pup there own bowl.

huskygal i didnt ask what his breed was if you read it again !!!!! i ASKED if it was small ..med ..or ..large for the simple reason if its a small breed with small litter then pups dont alway take to weeing at this age !!!! ...if it was of large breed with lots of pups then weening can start early .....I DID NOT MISSLEAD HIM !!!!! OR ASK HIM TO NAME THE BREED
just the size !!!!!!!  IM NOT A 1ST TIMER lol !!!
