... does anyone else's dog/puppy crave or 'ask' for weird things? My little one just will not leave me alone if I have a cup of tea in my hand?? So funny. He has never tasted tea, I have never given him tea... he has never 'sneaked' a taste as I am always standing when I have a cup and I never leave a cup within his reach as he'd prboably eat the mug too!! Love him! He paws me, tries to grab my arm and wags his tail furiuosly... does make me chuckle!

Just wondered if anyone else's pupster goes crazy for strange foods?

LOL - pups and cups are inseparable in thise house :-p

My pup loves OH's tea, he's always been obsessed about it and this has continued (he's now 15 months - that's pup not OH :-o ) because hubby gave in and shared   He now plagues everyone with a cup in their hand except me (strong black coffee, no sugar) and will drink black, white, sweetened or unsweetened tea and also coffee with milk and/or sugar (visitors being no better at helping break this habit than hubby >sigh< )

We eat fresh fruit every night watching TV - a variety but most often melon.  All the dogs are now melon addicts and try to mug me on the way through from the kitchen to lounge ..... they're getting better by the day LOL

Gotta love 'em ;)

Cher likes lemon juice, PURE lemon juice.  Started because my aunt (love her!) let Cher drink Root Beer out of her pop bottle, and so every time I had a bottle of somesort, Cher wanted it.  So I put pure lemon juice on the lid, so when she licked it, it would taste bad, but my plan backfired, and now she loves the taste of lemon juice as well.

Oh she also really likes pinapple!!!

My dog is weird, but I love her!

I laughed at this comment about plans backfiring!

My eldest Bearded Collie was a terror at chewing the door frames in her youth.  I plastered the wood with Colman's English Mustard.

She licked and licked and licked!

I have never seen her drool so much - my plan didn't work!  :-o

This made me laugh out loud!! I'm not surprised she drooled... that makes my mouth (and eyes) water just thinking about licking mustard!!! Pahahahaha.

Good question!!

Megan, my Samoyed, has an ice cube fetish :-) If anyone who comes round to our house has ice cubes in their drink then she doesn't leave their side until she has been given at least one ice cube. She can hear the ice machine on the fridge from a mile away!

We were at our annual 'Samoyed of the Year' event in November and there was a lady in the hotel reception, totally unconnected to the show, who was sipping a glass of Bailey's with ice. Megan went up to her and did her 'best face' with her tail wagging, we had to explain to the poor lady what she wanted, luckily she was charmed by Megan and gave her some of the ice cubes!! :-)

Beer....

Our youngest (now 3) loves beer.  As 10 week pup my byfriend when he came round would have her lying on her back, in his lap while he sat on the floor letting her have the end drops of his beer....3 years later she still gets the end few drops from the bottle and if you put the bottle on the floor, empty or not, she will lick the top!  Never could get her out the habbit!

Yep its yogurt George goes mad for.  I swear he can hear a pot being scraped out miles away and all of a sudden he is there waiting to get the last remnants out.  I think it's the only thing I've seen that can wake him from a deep sleep :)

yep its yogurt here too LOL

my granda had a dog that loved guiness and when they heard the tin open sat there waiting for his sip LOL

my samoyeds are the same as megan ,they love ice cubes ,everytime they see me walking towards the ice machine on the freezer they are so well behaved waiting on one to come there way and one or two usually do,they also love banana . carrots and cucumber!
- By simkhona1 [gb] Date 13.03.09 18:48 UTC
they also like red wine and beer but only occasionally, they dont like the hangover

My GSD is obsessed with ice cubes, as soon as the freezer door opens she's there.  My Leo pup has a similar obsession with carrots - Leos are not the most stealth-like creatures but he obviously thinks he is - it's highly amusing watching him trying to sneak up behind the donkey to nick a carrot without being caught!!  He is also intrigued by hot cups, at first I thought it's because he wanted the contents but he actually just nudges his nose against it and then barks his disapproval at being burnt...............but then continues doing it until the cup has gone cold! (he also does the same with hot water bottles!)

Hello Tracey didn't see you there! *waves* hope you & yours are well! :-)

Ive discovered Megan also has a thing for toothpaste!! When I'm brushing my teeth she doesn't leave my side in case toothpaste from my toothbrush accidentally goes on the floor! I think she must have learnt these strange habits in her previous home ;-)
- By simkhona1 [gb] Date 19.03.09 20:06 UTC
Hi Alice,
Sams have the funniest habits, our first samoyed used to let you brush his teeth with colgate and loved polo mints,he really had a thing for beer,my OH gave him the dreggs out of his beer one night (and there were a few a tins) and simba stood up and fell over.
- By Astarte Date 19.03.09 22:47 UTC

> loved polo mints

my dearly departed mastiff Odin had such a thing for anything mint. He was never a kissy dog but he would be right up at you giving kisses till you were forsed to spit anything mint out for him- terrible habit to let him get but we indulged him. He also loved getting his teeth brushed
- By AliceC Date 20.03.09 07:37 UTC
They really do dont they Tracey, Megan lets me brush her teeth and she likes polos too and extra strong mints which she found accidentally when 'truffling' in my OH's bag (luckily there was only 1 left when she found them!)

We were at the pub beer garden the other night and any of my friends who had ice in their drinks she was standing over looking at them wagging her tail, she seemed to like the ice cubes that had been in cider best !!

Will I see you at the show on Sunday Tracey ??
- By littlemissdrago [eu] Date 20.03.09 09:47 UTC
Yes my Son has now got Boomer addicted to yoghurt... well fromage frais to be exact!! My Son will let him have the pot to finish off! Mind you it's great for training though, he'll do absolutely anything for the opportunity to have the pot after we've finished with it!!

Will be interesting to see what other weird and wonderful cravings come out after spending Easter at my parent's place with all my family there to 'share' with Boomer!
