Did anyone watch it?? Thoughts?? I found it it very interesting and my opinions changed depending on the relationship with the couple wanting a child and the chosen surrogate mother.

I watched this, and had mixed feelings about it really,
I understand that these ladies are making a magical thing happen to couples that are unable to have babies themselves, and it must be a fantastic feeling to be able to help another human being in this way, and for the couples to have this wonderful gift of a child given to them (for a price) but still its lovely.

BUT here comes the BUT!!!
I felt watching the program that 'Amanda' was very upset to see her baby go to the new family, and it must pull on the old emotional heart breaking strings, it certainly would me, but then i would never do this myself, I feel there are plenty of babies in care that could do with a special family.

I worry enough about my pups going to their new homes and whether I have made the right decision with the families they are placed with, let alone a new born baby!

I dont think I would like to grow up and find out that my 'real' mum had given birth to me and then gave me to a couple that had paid her, it is a difficult subject.

one i didnt like was a young lady [LIKE HER} had a baby boy for a couple (didnt like]THEM .

the surrogate mum said to the kids to kiss the baby goodbye the lady that was taking the baby boy was so up her self said no it will wake him up and he cry,the husband was a alot older and upper class didnt like them.

yes i agree briedog, I thought the couple was quite up themselves, and when she was rude and said for the kids not to kiss the little baby goodbye incase he wakes, I shouted out 'haha get used to it! you have a newborn baby their not a toy!'

I also thought the other couple that was givent he twins seemed quite 'up themselves too'

I didn't watch it, quite gutted I missed it but hopefully it will be on again sometime.

It's nothing I would ever contemplate (touch wood!).  What is meant to be will be.  If I can't give birth myself then I will adopt - there are sooooo many children in the world that have never experienced love.  I'd also never consider giving away a baby I had carried and loved for 9 months to another couple for all the Oil in the North Sea - whether it would be genetically mine or not I would have a bond with it.  I'm fiercely possessive anyway, goodness knows what I'll be like with a baby!

I found it enlightening. Nobody seemed to bother much about chosing the right surrogate mother which i thought would be of paramount importance. Nor building a relationship with that woman. At the end of the day they are the biological mother (unless you use your own eggs which many dont) so i would want someone as similar as myself.
Felt very sorry for Amanda and didnt think the couple were suitable as parents anyway - it was almost like having a child was the done thng to do. The woman did not strike me as having a maternal bone in her body. She treated the baby like a bomb about to go off, not something to hold and love and cuddle. I also got the impression the couple were very uncomfortable with the 3 young children that Amanda had.
Unfortunatley the 2 couples did seem very up themselves and upper class because i suppose they are the only sort of people who could afford to pay up to £10,000 'expenses' to a surrogate.

I hope one day to have children but if i cant have them i would assume thats natures way. I think i would look at other avenues such as adoption etc.

Hi Fred's Mum
Will watch it when I get home.  If I ever were to have a surrogate for whatever reason then I would be paranoid over who it would be and how they lived.  From what you have said it appears that these people view children as a God given right, instead of the gift they actually are.
