My Golden Retriever boy has been having snownoses every year since moving to the UK. I heard somewhere it could be due to lack of daylight? Anyway, even though his nose (and eye circles) usually turns black again in the summer, I wanted to know if there was anything I could do to help? Even my puppy, I noticed last night, is turning a bit light on the nose. Ah! At least they don't seem to suffer from SAD which I am very prone to in these northern parts!!

Hi Gaelle!

Im being very lazy and to save typing Im linking to an old thread where I commented Snow nose.

I'm a big fan of Dorwest herbs been using them for quite sometime :) (At present I use the Kelp powder, cheaper than the tabs by half, its lower dose...but I find same results in my dogs)
HTH.

Sorry to jump in, but whilst at Crufts I spoke to the people on the Dorwest Herbs site re this problem. They recommended their Kelp Seaweed, but was warned that it can cause some dogs to overheat and they recommended to only give it until about April. Has anyone had any problems with this? HuskyGal I wish I had read your post earlier, I think I would have preferred to try the Elderberry and Nettle.

Goldie,

Read mine and Christines comments towards the ends of this thread. (Again I'm being lazy and using a 2 yr old thread!!) Kelp & Overheating..
HTH :)

I've tried the Elderberry and Nettle, and my lot regularly get Keepers Mix or Easy Greens (all Dorwest). I've also tried Pigment Plus (from Animal Health) and none of these have had any effect on my three Goldies noses. I'm now just letting nature do what nature does!

Would also recommend Kelp and liver.
