Hi guys, just after some advice about when to spay my little girl Luna.
She is 1 year and 8 months old and had her first (and so far only) season at the end of last July when she was a year old.
You may remember a few weeks ago me posting after she was peeing blood and thankfully that infection is now clear.
A few weeks before her first season she had a bit of pus on her vulva after taking a pee and she was diagnosed with juvenile vaginitus, she had a pee test which showed a slight ph inbalance. The anti-biotics did not clear this up and the vet said it would go away by itself after her season. After her season it came back, it was never thick, if she wasn't black I probably wouldn't notice. She had a pee test which seemed normal, an ultrasound to check for pyrometra and a culture done which did not grow anything. She had more anti-biotics which still didn't work and the vet said it was probably just a collection of dead cells due to hormones and that it would go away by itself which eventually it did.
Anyways, I have always intended to have her spayed as I do not want to breed and I have read the pro's outway the con's. My worry is, is it safe for her to be spayed while she has these infections coming and going.
Her health is my number one concern, I just worry about her so much as she is so small (just 6 kg) and has never been under anesthetic before. Any advice or experience very gratefully received
Thanks Mel
p.s. edited to add the slight pus is showing on her vulva again
