Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Lots of puppy enquiries?
- By Gemini05 Date 08.03.09 20:28 UTC
for the last 5 days my email box seems to be full of enquiries for my breed, I don't mind at all as I like to think I can help point protential puppy owners in the right direction of responsible breeders, but it just seems to be getting popular.
I have had 5 emails today asking what to look out for when choosing a puppy and whether I knew of any litters due soon.

Has anyone else had more then usual?

I've had loads too, but not planning any litters yet, even put off having a litter when my girl came in season in December.  I guess Spring is on it's way (honestly it is) and it's the time when people start looking again.

I've had quite a few asking me what they should be looking for, what questions they should be asking etc.  One today told me that her vet had warned her about people who breed for money.  I just think that peope are getting more wary.  I always reply, and tell them the difference between puppy farmers and reputable people who health test, and care about dogs.  I don't, however, offer pups to these people, or pass them on to other breeders.  If they want to do further research and get back to me, fine.

People are more likely to get more phone calls at this time of year (a certain dog show that has just ended might have something to do with it ;-) ) Just treat them as you normally would. Ignore the silly ones, but anyone that appears to be genuine are worth following up on.
