well as ive said riley had 4 puppies and is doing fine in some ways
she is cleaning the pups constantly to the point that she is stopping them feeding
she keeps trying to get up and walk away when all the pups are attached??? bit confusing really its like she wants to look after them but is not interested in feeding them at all??
any suggestions thanks kx

Is this her first litter? If so she's a typical bewildered new mum. Make sure someone sits with her the whole time, and if necessary holds her still (reassuring and praising her when she's co-operating) when the pups are latched on. When the milk comes in properly she'll start to feel the relieve the suckling gives, but at first it's a very strange feeling!

i 2nd what Jg has said ...take her out to make sure she dont need to do anything , let her clean them for awhile and then move her head away so pups can suckle ...she needs to be watched ..

and congrats :):):) you did very well xx

just to let you know that all is well so far with pups and riley now cleans the pups a little before and after feeding and while feeding just goes to sleep so is much more settled!
thanks again for the advice kx

That's good news. :-) It always takes a little while for first-time mums to get the hang of it!
