Yes, a bogle (boxer/beagle cross) I think :-)

I think what you saw was a trachea spasm...the Yorkies do it sometimes, they seem to gasp and can't appear to breathe properly(they are, otherwise they would turn blue!)...I was worried about it when I first saw them doing it. It's like a spasm they can't control that agitates their trachea, so it looks and sounds very dramatic but it isn't really! I usually try to hold them still and firm around the chest till it passes...maybe it helps, maybe it just feels like I'm 'doing' something!!
thanku newfi :) the way you have describe it sounds very sim to what happend :) i can stop worring now ...xx

I've been trying to think what sort of noise it is! To be brutally frank about it...it sounds like some disgusting person trying hard to honk up some phlegm from their throats!! Another sound that makes me feel sick! :-o
sort of lol but she sounded more like she was strugging to breath more then the honk lol ...( i cant stand any kind of nose like that ,i dont even like it when ppl sniff up :( ...ooo dont get me started about noses ;) .

If its what I am thinking of, my girls do it all the time. Gasping for air, but they are still breathing proper. Usually happens (with mine anyways) when they get excited (or headbutted from eachother in the side).
(or headbutted from eachother in the side).........OOO No :) xx

Mia does it occasional too. It may sound odd but someone recommended gently putting you hand over her nose and mouth for a couple of seconds and massage her throat. It really works and I havent suffocated her yet !

That is what I do, cover the nose and mouth for a few seconds. It is hyperventilating really and this stops it.
That sounds the same as what mine occasionally do when they get a really interesting scent, I think in these cases it is over excitement and particles that set it off, as it seem to happen most when there is a lot of things that would set off hay fever in people.

All my girls do this from time to time. i can remember the first time it happened. I thought she was choking. I was holding the poor girl upside down, patting (well more than patting) her back and then sticking my fingers down her throat. Poor girl, but I was terrified she had something stuck and she was dying!. Now I just do the same as brainless and others. Simply put my hand over her nostrils and stroke her throat. Having a cuddle at the same time!!! Multi tasking!!!!!

Alf did it when he came out of the ring at crufts - bet "joe public" thought alot of me when I put my hand over his nose and mouth - they probably thought I was trying to suffocate him

That made me laugh I will wait for the newspaper headlines lol

My Cavalier reverse sneezes whenever she gets really excited - especially if we are going for a walk or when I get home from work...I was terrified the first time I heard her, I thought it was something to do with her heart but apparently its very common in Cavs! A Chihuahua breeder once told me to hold the dog upside down when it reverse sneezes?!

which is fine if you have a chihuahua - cant imagine trying to hold an irish setter upside down ;)
