Today I was lucky enough to represent the Golden Retievers on the discover dogs stand, this is our fourth year, Kez & I love it. Over the years I have been asked some silly things but not as much as today.

This lady approached me and said "so do they class your dog as a english cream" think my face said it all !!!! :o) Poor Kez he is quite pale but still very much a goldie :o)

Wizaid, can you tell me how you got involved in Discover Dogs?  It's something I've always wanted to do.

I got involved through my dogs breeder, the Golden Retreiver Stand is run by the local midlands breed club. I would have thought that is the case for most of the stands so people do not have to travel to far, might be worth contacting your local breed club and they can point you in the right direction.

Hope you can get involved, we really enjoy ourselves, it is great to listen to peoples stories and people are so excited about meeting your dog. Good Luck.

Many US Golden people call the paler dogs that over there. :)

Depends on how popular the breed is LOL. In my breed (Malinois) there are only a tiny handfull of show breeders (as in less than the fingers on one hand!) plus a few more active exhibitors, so most of us travel quite far to take our turn in DD.

;o) I learn something new all the while, made me chuckle :o) - it is wonderful to see so many breeds at discover dogs, I love going around and seeing them.

My son loves meeting different breeds at DD :-) I was pleased to see the handwash foam stuff on each stand this year, (although I had taken my own).

Ditto that Fran :)
I lost about 40 mins with the Isle of Imaals!! 2 wonderful owners kept me enthralled a real pleasure to meet :)
(Least said about the Eurasians the better )

My dogs and I, had a blast at Discover dogs yesterday.

Only downside is not being able to see any of the show.

Not quite so sure about my Other half, he hated the noise from the events, couldn't understand why people let their dogs yap. Actually he did love it except for the pounding headache.

Silly sausage went off and bought 3 very expensive pigs ears for the girls to have a snack in their booth.

Of course they then spent a few minutes totally blanking the adoring public!

I was doing DD all day Friday, but the two you will have seen on Thursday were family LOL. Sharp the male fawn dog is the litter brother of my 9 year old bitch Ripley, and Cleo the 4 year old grey bitch (noticeable because of her silly ears!) was bred by me, one of Ripley's daughters. :)

We were walking through DD with my Leo and got stopped 3 times by people asking questions about the breed :) :)
So we did our part telling the public about the care etc...

I was looking for any sign on Pumi but I now know it is not regognised beed in UK so not there :(...

I would love to do DD but my current girl is not a perfect candidate... She just ignores most strangers, even if they are petting her!
She doesn't waste any tail wags for people she doesn't know, only the few chosen ones will get her love and admiration.
