Hi My dog Digger, who is one in two weeks time, yesterday had his wicked way with a poor unsuspecting Dalmatian whilst out on a walk. Now his testicles look swollen and miss shaped, please can anyone tell me if this is normal or should I take him to the vets tomorrow, I thought he was a bit young for all this!

Get him to a vet and be a more responsible when you have him out on walks :-)
hi shazkneller ....not to young as you now know :( ....dogs will try from a young age and at 1 will be able to sire pups ...was the dalmatian on a lead ?
Hi no she was not, but he regularly meets and plays with her, so I was not concerned when I saw he had gone to see her as they know each other. It was not mine nor the Dalmatian owners fault as they were soooo quick, that was what shocked me, I thought it might have taken him a few attempts but he was like a rat up a drain pipe. I'm not sure if its normal for his testicles to mis-shape but they both seem to be the same.
so did the owner of the bitch know she was inseason ? if so i find it strange to take a bitch out and not on a lead ? if it wasnt your dog it would of been some1 eles dog :( im not to sure about his testicles as i dont have a male dog but if there both the same maybe this happens after mateing ? .

Seems abit odd not that i have ever seen a male dog directly after mating, just thinking human !
Sounds like both you and the dalmations owner need a trip to the vet at least to ask questions.
just thinking human !!!!!!
wanted to say this too furriefriends :)

hehe !!

To be honest I think you all need an anatomy and sex education talk!!! ;-)
lol you might be right ..4 kids later ...but i think its to late for me now lol lol ;) x

Recently there have been 2 bitches in our local park and 1 three months ago that were all caught out and tied with males running around, one of the bitches belong to a midwife fantasticpedigree and the dirtiest mongrel got her, jack russel her owner comes in park lets her off lead cos he can't walk far (wife a nursing sister) she was got by labrador and god knows what with a bichon. I am amazed how many people walk their dogs in the park on and off lead whilst their bitches are in season. I do take mine out but to places were there are no dogs and at ridiculous times.

I am too and it annoys me no end - I ended up getting my lad castrated because of it, even though he was not a problem normally.
I do wonder whether people think that a season is like a human 'period' and therefore not a time when they would get pregnant.
ppl owning dogs should know about dogs haveing seasons in this day and age dont you think ???? sorry but if the owner of a bitch in season dont know its a time when they can have pups then they shouldnt be having dogs at all !!

absolutely!!! but it no longer surprises me how many people (often seemingly intelligent people) are ignorant about their pets and not just about seasons either.
i agree 100% with you jen :( its just so hard to think that ppl are so ignorant to so many things reguiding owning a dog :( xx
It's amazing just how ignorant some of them are. I have given up trying to tell one of my neighbours that just because a bitch was caught by a dog of a different breed it doesn't mean that she is ruined for breeding in the future :-( There are so many awful old wives tales out there.
In saying that they all come to me for advice before going to the vet

I am not a professional, what do I know? ;-)
lindylou :) you know alot more than them :) xx;)

Hi LindaMorgan, well done for dodging the crowds with your bitch. My dog has been completely out of control this morning--wouldn't come when whistled at all, completely ignored me, running back and forth with nose to the ground, licking the ground and generally acting demented...I had an idea he was trailing a bitch in season!

Know how that feels. Met a woman with two Staffies on leads this morning, on a very popular dog walk. Both were in season!!! My two boys thought they were wonderful !!!
Needless to say, she didn't seem to think she was doing anything wrong!!

Oh it reallu annoys me what is wrong with people these days.
